Bruce joins Obama campaign and announces his first ever show in Mexico

Bruce Springsteen has confirmed this weekend three new appearances. The first two will take place shortly, next Thursday Oct. 18th, as Bruce will appear at two stops in the Obama campaign: Parma, OH and Ames, IA. “Bruce Springsteen’s values echo what the President and Vice President stand for: hard work, fairness, integrity,” said Jim Messina, Obama-Biden campaign manager. “His appearances will help with our get out the vote effort in these critical swing states and we are thrilled with his ongoing support.” President Bill Clinton will also join Bruce for his appearance in Ohio.

The third appearance will happen across the south border. Bruce will play in Mexico for the first time, and with The E Street Band. The show will be held at Mexico DF’s Palacio de Deportes on December 10th, with tickets going on sale Oct.24th thru www.ticketmaster.com.mx. It has been announced as «the final stop» of the 2012 tour, thus confirming the Wrecking Ball tour will go on with more shows in 2013.

Bruce Springsteen’s Special Collection Expanding

Here’s some good news from our friends at the Bruce Springsteen Special Collection: The New Jersey Historical Commission has awarded grant funds to The Friends of The Bruce Springsteen Special Collection, setting the stage for a major expansion of the Collection. Since it opened in 2001, the Collection has been focused primarily on  the written history of Bruce Springsteen and members of his bands, providing public access to over 16,000 books, magazines, newspaper articles and other documents.

«The Historical Commission grant allows us to accept and preserve donations of posters, vinyl records, DVDs and videos, and compact discs,» said Christopher Phillips, president of The Friends. «Each of these categories tell a vital part of the Springsteen story, and their addition will add enormously to the research value of the Collection.»

Starting immediately, items in the expanded Collection will be available for use at the Collection, which is housed on the campus of Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ.

During  a concert in Asbury Park in 2001 Bruce Springsteen said: ”The Collection has almost 1,000 books and magazines on myself and the band–more stuff than every place except my mother’s basement!”

For further details on donating CDs, DVDs, videos, vinyl recordings, or posters o the Special Collection, please contact The Friends at: Springsteencollection@aol.com.

A memorable night for one of the best tours in the history of rock’n’roll!
