According to KSLX radio, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will perform at Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday Jan.14th. Bruce has been at Fallon’s show twice before. The first time in November 16th, 2010 when he impersonated himself (as a 1975 bearded, young Bruce) and Fallon impersonated Neil Young (and sang «Whip My Hair») and performed «Because the Night» and «Save My Love» with The Roots plus Steve Van Zandt and Roy Bittan. In 2012 Bruce and the whole E Street Band (incl. horns) were on the show twice the same week: February 27th for «We Take Care of Our Own» and «Wrecking Ball», and March 2nd for «Death to my Hometown», «Jack of All Trades» and «The E Street Shuffle», with Tom Morello and The Roots as guests. That night he also impersonated himself, this time as a 1984 Born in the USA-era Bruce, singing «Sexy and I Know it» with Jimmy Fallon.
Bruce Springsteen’s forthcoming album High Hopes is generating a lot of press these days. One of the most interesting articles appeared recently on the online version of Rolling Stone, where Andy Greene interviews Ron Aniello. The producer talks in insight about how the new album was done, the many other songs Springsteen has in the can yet («I’m actually working on some of the songs now and going through them», says Aniello) and much more. The interview (well worth reading) has plenty of interesting bits and details, including unreleased song titles.
Meanwhile CBS has announced the full High Hopes album will be streaming on their CBS.com website on January 5th at 7pm, since three of its songs («High Hopes», «Hunter of Invisible Game» and «The Ghost of Tom Joad») will be incorporated into the Jan.12th episode of The Good Wife (titled «We, the Juries»).
The Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced the list of the 2004 inductees, and at long last The E Street Band is on that list. They will enter the Hall of Fame in the category of «Musical Excellence» (replacing the former «Sidemen» category).
The ceremony will take play at Barclays Center in Brookly, New York, on April 10th 2014. The members of the E Street Band that will be inducted are David Sancious, Vini Lopez, Garry Tallent, Danny Federici, Clarence Clemons, Max Weinberg, Steve Van Zandt, Roy Bittan, Patti Scialfa and Nils Lofgren. Surprisingly, 1974’s E Street Band drummer Ernest Boom Carter is not on that list. Though he was in the band for just a few months his contribution to Bruce’s career is important, as he’s the drummer on the studio version of Springsteen’s most important song: «Born to Run«.
Tickets to attend the induction ceremony will be on public sale in January. The show will be taped and then aired on HBO in May. There will be a special ticket sale for Hall of Fame members on Dec.31st at 11:59pm EST thru the Rock Hall website.
