Springsteen sings with Lady Gaga

It happened yesterday, May 13th. Springsteen appeared unannounced as a guest artist at the Rainforest Benefit concert. In the breathtaking scenery of New York’s Carnegie Hall, Springsteen sang «Dancing in the Dark» and a soul-styled version of the Bryan Adams hit «Cuts Like a Knife.» At the end of the night he also participated in the last song of the concert, Journey’s «Don’t Stop Believin», playing and singing along with celebrities like Elton John or the newest pop star Lady Gaga.

The Big Man is back

Clarence Clemons has reappeared. After his spinal surgery on January 13, Clarence continues the slow process of recovery. On May 8th he reappeared and played on the Home Safe benefit concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, Florida. Clarence said in an interview with AP: «the pain will make me stronger. I want to be able to dance again, I keep that vision in my mind».»

At the concert (dubbed «Classic Clarence Clemons’) Clarence played seated, and had Little Steven and Max Weinberg as special guests.

Bruce Springsteen at Wamfest

Far from his classic rock performances in front of huge audiences, Springsteen sang yesterday at the Deyfruss Theatre at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ, in front of a small audience of 400 students. Along with poet Robert Pinsky, Bruce participated in a special event at Wamfest (Words and Music Festival), which combined conversations, poetry reading and music. John Wesley Harding was the host.

Springsteen recited some of Pinsky’s poems («Shirt», «Samurai Song»), and Robert sang back up in some songs. Both talked about art, inspiration, their creative methods and mortality. Springsteen commented: «You react to your own history; you can’t help it. I react to what I’ve done previously. I reject it and criticize it, and that pushes your work forward».

Bruce sang six tunes, including «The River», «Nebraska» and «Wreck on the Highway».
