Although the «middle-of-nowhere» venue didn’t seem the right place for a concert (it was a huge open space on a horse racetrack next to a casino), yesterday’s performance by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in Vernon was fantastic, and the artist offered a set list full of hits, rarities and fan favorites from all throughout his career, including the tour premieres of «Human Touch» and «Stand on it». Judging by the great set list, yesterday’s show looked more like a «second night» concert rather than a one-stand.
The show began with «Out in the Street», followed by several fan requests that included the thrilling «It’s Hard to Be a Saint in the City» and «I’m a Rocker». Then came «Darkness on the Edge of Town», «Frankie», the swing version of «Open All Night» and the 1978 version of «Prove it All Night», plus a beautiful «Backstreets» (with snippets of «Dream Baby Dream»).
The encores featured «Thunder Road», «Rosalita» and the sensational «Quarter to Three», before closing with «Twist and Shout», after playing 30 songs during three hours and thirty-five minutes. Next stop is Philadelphia, where he will play on Sunday and Monday.
