Second show in London

Though 4 songs and 10 minutes shorter than the first night, the second London show was a blast, with an energetic show that featured two tour premieres and a big shake of the set list. Twelve songs were different to the previous night, and the show started with «Out in the Street», followed by «No Surrender», «Darkness on the edge of town» and «Gypsy Biker», before finally playing «Radio Nowhere». This gave a different feel to the show.

Then came the two songs dedicated to Danny Federici, with great stories from Bruce: «Sandy» and «Growin’ Up», followed by the tour premieres of «Downbound Train» (with a great, extended instrumental ending) and «I’m on Fire», which had Bruce seated in a chair in the little stage right in front of the audience. «Backstreets» was one of the best moments of the night, with a really intense version of the song. A more uptempo version of «Girls in the Summer Clothes» (more similar now to the album version) opened the encores and was followed by a note-perfect «Jungleland». Clarence was inmense on this one. Bruce was up and running all of the night, having a lot of fun and constantly interacting with the audience (both in the front row, and in the rest of the stadium, via his singing to the cameras sometimes). The show clocked in at 2 hours and 35 minutes.

Segundo concierto en Londres

Aunque con 4 canciones menos y 10 minutos más corto que el día anterior, el segundo concierto en Londres fue extraordinario y vibrante, con la banda en perfecta comunión con el público, en un show intenso y repleto de sorpresas. «Out in the Street» abrió fuego, seguida de «No Surrender», «Darkness on the edge of town» y «Gypsy Biker», antes de llegar finalmente a «Radio Nowhere». Este cambio radical en el orden de las canciones le dio un sabor distinto al concierto.
Después llegaron las dos canciones dedicadas a Danny Federici, con Springsteen contando anécdotas sobre Danny: «Sandy» y «Growin’ Up», seguidas luego por dos estrenos en la gira, «Downbound Train» (con un gran final instrumental) y «I’m on Fire», que Bruce cantó sentado en una silla en el pequeño escenario justo delante del público.

«Backstreets» fue uno de los momentos de máximo apogeo del concierto, en una versión intensa y demoledora. En los bises, «Girls in the Summer Clothes» sonó con el tempo más similar que nunca a la versión original, y le siguió una versión perfecta de «Jungleland», con Clarence Clemons inmenso en su solo de saxo.

Estos conciertos en estadios (convertidos ya en un evento social para masas), y pesar de la clara incomodidad para el público por la gran distancia hacia el escenario y las deficiencias habituales de sonido, llevan a Bruce a un mayor esfuerzo comunicativo, con constantes acercamientos hacia las primeras filas, dejando cantar al público e incluso que toquen su guitarra, corriendo arriba y abajo o recogiendo los carteles con peticiones de sus fans más acérrimos, los cuales duermen toda la noche en la calle para estar lo más cerca posible de su ídolo. En los casos más «extremos» (por llamarlo así), algunos fans han pasado dos días durmiendo en la calle, e incluso ¡abandonando el concierto durante los bises para ir ya a hacer cola en la calle para el siguiente día!
