Second show added in Auckland

News release from Frontier Touring:

After selling out their first stadium concert in record speed, The Frontier Touring Company is thrilled to announce a second concert with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The new show will take place at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday 2nd March with tickets going on sale through Ticketmaster at 9am on Monday 9th September.

Chairman of The Frontier Touring Company Michael Gudinski said, “It’s been a decade since Bruce and the E Street Band last toured New Zealand and the response to the 2014 tour has been absolutely phenomenal.  The original Auckland show was set to be the end of the tour, but demand has been so great, Bruce and the E Street Band have agreed to extend their stay for one extra night with their Kiwi fans.»

“I’d like to also acknowledge the passion of Christchurch fans.  Regrettably however on this particular tour a Christchurch show isn’t logistically possible within the time frame available.   Notably a significant number of fans from the Canterbury region have already secured tickets to the first Auckland concert and I am absolutely confident that Bruce will deliver them a concert that they will remember for years to come.”

Tickets to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s second Auckland concert on Sunday 2 March go on sale on Monday 9 September.  Pre-sale tickets via www.frontiertouring.com/brucespringsteen go on sale at 2pm NZST Thursday 5 September.

E Street Fan T-shirts to help Dan

At the end of the Wrecking Ball tour’s final European leg, Springsteen followed his introduction of the legendary E Street Band with a salute to the fans. If you missed it, take a look at the video above, from the last night in Kilkenny, as Bruce calls out to the «ticket-seekin’, hotel-bookin’, money-jugglin’, plane-takin’, train-ridin’, queue-formin’, tramp-meetin’, feet-throbbin’, back-breakin’, burger-eatin’, rain-endurin’, music-lovin’, Boss-followin’, legendary E! Street! Fans!»

The salute originally comes from a T-shirt worn by Bruce fans Pauline Fairlie & Steven Woods at concerts throughout the summer. As photos of their shirts began to circulate, eventually Amy Lofgren brought it to Bruce’s attention, and the rest is history. Pauline and Steven approached Jon Landau Management and asked for their approval if they sold these shirts on behalf of Daniel Harrison, and they readily agreed.

The shirts are available in a variety of designs and colors and can be purchased now from our friends at Badlands.co.uk, with all proceeds going to the Help Dan Fund.

Official announcement from bs.net:

Bruce and the E Street Band have announced they are headed back to Australia and New Zealand in 2014 for their most extensive tour of the area to date. The 2014 tour includes the first New Zealand show in more than a decade and their first-ever visit to Perth and Adelaide, kicking off at Perth Arena on February 7.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band brought the Wrecking Ball tour to Australia earlier this year on their first tour Down Under in more than a decade, performing three hour plus shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and at Victoria’s iconic Hanging Rock.

Said Springsteen’s long-time manager and producer, Jon Landau, “Our shows in Australia earlier this year were among the very best and most satisfying of our whole 128 show tour.  The crowds were tremendous, the fans as warm, friendly, and welcoming as we could ever hope for, and the quality of the performances, as virtually every reviewer commented, were spectacularly high».

“From the moment we finished the second show at Hanging Rock on March 31, we have been working on a plan to return next year.  Among other things, we wanted to expand the number of places we play to include the Hunter Valley, Perth and Adelaide, with a trip to Auckland, as well.  Those venues are in addition to the new dates in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.  In other words, this will be our most far reaching tour of Australasia ever – and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are planning to make it their finest.”

Frontier Touring is also thrilled to announce that Australian music legends, Hunters & Collectors will be reforming to be special guests at Springsteen and the E Street Band at the Melbourne AAMI Stadium concert.

Additional special guest at the Melbourne and Hunter Valley shows will be Australia’s favorite rock & roll soul man Dan Sultan.  Continuing the musical tour de force that they established on this year’s Wrecking Ball tour, Jimmy Barnes will be special guest for the Auckland Mt Smart Show.

Bruce in Australia?

While Bruce is «touring» the Mediterranean with friends and family (with known stops in Greece, Italy and Spain), news have come from Australia about a possible tour there in February 2014. The Triple M website revealed the plans for a 2014 tour, though the page was later deleted.

Corey Stephenson’s website was able to capture the Triple M website post and all the details. According to the deleted Triple M page, Bruce would start an Australian tour on Feb.7th in Perth, then on to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Hunter Valley and a final show in Brisbane on Feb. 26th. Of course, all to be taken with a grain of salt, but the dates would match with the rumours of a new studio album coming out before Christmas or early next year, followed by a world tour.
