Almost incognito and wearing a baseball hat, Bruce Springsteen joinedBrian Wilson onstage last night at the PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey.
He sang backup vocals on «Barbara Ann» from the left side of the stage. Then he moved to the right side, took a guitar and played and sang vocals on the Beach Boys classic «Surfin’ USA».
Mystery solved. For years we’ve seen the classic picture by Joel Bernstein that appeared on the cover of the U.S. and Japan editions of the «Hungry Heart» 7″ single published in 1980, with Bruce standing at the south end of the Asbury Park boardwalk, with the Empress Hotel in the back and a phone booth with a girl on a bicycle making a call.
The Coaster website reveals now the identity of the girl on the picture, taken in 1979: Annmarie Solimini Adderley, from North Bergen, NJ.
«She just came wheeling into the shot. We didn’t see her face, she doesn’t park the bike. It’s sort of a cas(ual) thing a schoolkid would do, a younger person. It’s not that common», said Bernstein.

Emmylou Harris was awarded yesterday with the prestigious Polar Music Prize, in a ceremony held in Stockholm. Bruce & Patti, friends of the Laureate, sent a video message to the American singer. Springsteen won the same award back in 1997, while he was touring Europe in support of his folk album The Ghost of Tom Joad.
While Bruce keeps recording new songs and working on various projects, he also spends time with his daughter Jessica travelling the world visiting horse shows. He was seen yesterday with Patti in Saint-Tropez (as the pictures posted by Clara Svensson in Twitter show).
Bruce has also performed twice recently. On May 28 he attended the MusiCares tribute to Pete Townshend that was held at the Best Buy Theatre. Bruce gave a long speech, where he remembered The Who show he attended in Asbury Park in 1967 which inspired him so much, and later came back onstage to perform with Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, singing during «My Generation» and later on «Won’t Get Fooled Again», where they were also joined by Willie Nile, Billy Idol and Joan Jett.
That same weekend Bruce attended Kelly Kilbride’s wedding. She is Patti’s assistant during Bruce’s worldwide tours. At the wedding party Bruce joined onstage the Bobby Bandiera band during a few numbers, including «634-5789» and «Roll Over Beethoven», as Backstreets reports.
Just a year ago Springsteen finished the High Hopes tour with an extraordinary show at the Mohegan casino in Uncasville, CT. The final night’s performance started with a great version of «Roll of the Dice».
