Second night in Pittsburgh: over 3 hours of rock

«People have come from the four corners of the world to be in Pittsburgh, that’s even crazier than coming from the four corners of the world to be in Asbury Park! People come from perfectly wonderful places… and they leave them!» (Bruce Springsteen)

Bruce Springsteen delivered last night an epic show in Pittsburgh with his friend Joe Grushecky. A lot of changes from the previous night: seven acoustic songs in a rockin’ set that lasted 3 hours and 20 minutes. After joining The Composure again for «Dancing in the Dark», Bruce opened the show with the 3-song acoustic set, including a beautiful (and first time acoustic) «Incident on 57th Street» (a request from Joe). With Joe and The Houserockers onstage Bruce added a few songs, including «Darkness on the edge of town», «Radio Nowhere» and «Adam Raised a Cain».

Come encore time there was «Hungry Heart», and when it seemed it was over after «Down the Road Apiece», the party went on with Van Morrison’s «Brown Eyed Girl», plus «Pink Cadillac» and an extended «Twist and Shout».

Then Bruce came on again for the usual acoustic encore, only this time it was a very extended acoustic set! 4 songs that included «No Surrender», «Does this Bus Stop at 82nd Street?», «Surprise, Surprise» and «Thunder Road» (with Joe Grushecky).

Springsteen, once again, proved to be in great shape, great voice and ready to rock.  Getting ready to tour the world soon?

First night in Pittsburgh

Joe Grushecky met with Bruce Springsteen last summer and decided it would be fun to play again together in Pittsburgh, as they did in 2010 to conmemorate the 15th anniversary of Joe’s album (produced by Bruce) American Babylon. The result: two shows of Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers with Bruce Springsteen, in their hometown of Pittsburgh, on Nov. 3rd and 4th.

The first show was last night, featuring a setlist very similar to the ones in 2010, with a few differences.

During the opening act’s performance, Bruce jumped onstage to play «Dacing in the Dark» with The Composure, which surprised everybody in the hall. Half an hour later he would open for Joe, with an acoustic set that included «For You», «Land of Hope and Dreams» and «I’ll Work for your Love».

Later, with Joe and his band, they performed some of the songs they wrote together («Another Thin Line», «Code of Silence», «I’m Not Sleeping», «Homestead») plus a few new ones like «Because the Night» or «Two Hearts», along with most of last year’s setlisted songs. According to witnesses Bruce was in great shape, singing, jumping, dancing and rocking, with a very good voice.
