Joe Grushecky met with Bruce Springsteen last summer and decided it would be fun to play again together in Pittsburgh, as they did in 2010 to conmemorate the 15th anniversary of Joe’s album (produced by Bruce) American Babylon. The result: two shows of Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers with Bruce Springsteen, in their hometown of Pittsburgh, on Nov. 3rd and 4th.
The first show was last night, featuring a setlist very similar to the ones in 2010, with a few differences.
During the opening act’s performance, Bruce jumped onstage to play «Dacing in the Dark» with The Composure, which surprised everybody in the hall. Half an hour later he would open for Joe, with an acoustic set that included «For You», «Land of Hope and Dreams» and «I’ll Work for your Love».
Later, with Joe and his band, they performed some of the songs they wrote together («Another Thin Line», «Code of Silence», «I’m Not Sleeping», «Homestead») plus a few new ones like «Because the Night» or «Two Hearts», along with most of last year’s setlisted songs. According to witnesses Bruce was in great shape, singing, jumping, dancing and rocking, with a very good voice.
