Emmylou Harris was awarded yesterday with the prestigious Polar Music Prize, in a ceremony held in Stockholm. Bruce & Patti, friends of the Laureate, sent a video message to the American singer. Springsteen won the same award back in 1997, while he was touring Europe in support of his folk album The Ghost of Tom Joad.
El prestigioso premio Polar Music se entregó el martes 9 de junio en Estocolmo, y la ganadora de este año fue la cantante norteamericana Emmylou Harris. Bruce y Patti, amigos de la homenajeada, mandaron un mensaje de felicitación en vídeo. Springsteen recibió el mismo honor en 1997, mientras estaba de gira por Europa en apoyo de su álbum de folk The Ghost of Tom Joad.
While Bruce keeps recording new songs and working on various projects, he also spends time with his daughter Jessica travelling the world visiting horse shows. He was seen yesterday with Patti in Saint-Tropez (as the pictures posted by Clara Svensson in Twitter show).
Bruce has also performed twice recently. On May 28 he attended the MusiCares tribute to Pete Townshend that was held at the Best Buy Theatre. Bruce gave a long speech, where he remembered The Who show he attended in Asbury Park in 1967 which inspired him so much, and later came back onstage to perform with Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, singing during «My Generation» and later on «Won’t Get Fooled Again», where they were also joined by Willie Nile, Billy Idol and Joan Jett.

That same weekend Bruce attended Kelly Kilbride’s wedding. She is Patti’s assistant during Bruce’s worldwide tours. At the wedding party Bruce joined onstage the Bobby Bandiera band during a few numbers, including «634-5789» and «Roll Over Beethoven», as Backstreets reports.

Mientras sigue con su actividad habitual, grabar más y más canciones y trabajar en los muchos proyectos en marcha, Springsteen sigue viajando por el mundo acompañando a su hija Jessica en torneos hípicos. Ayer mismo se le pudo ver, junto a Patti, en Saint-Tropez (como prueban las fotos que la también jinete Clara Svensson publicó en Twitter).
Y entre viajes y proyectos, Springsteen actuó en directo en dos ocasiones recientemente. El 28 de mayo en el Best Buy Theatre de Nueva York la fundación MusiCares rindió homenaje a Pete Townshend (guitarrista de The Who y autor de sus éxitos más memorables), y Bruce fue uno de los participantes en el evento, con un sentido discurso (donde recordó que los Who fueron el primer grupo que vio en directo, en 1967, ver vídeo) y posteriormente tocando la mítica «My Generation» en directo junto a Roger Daltrey y el propio Townshend, para finalizar con «Won’t Get Fooled Again», donde además se unieron al grupo Willie Nile, Billy Idol y Joan Jett.

Y ese mismo fin de semana Bruce hizo doblete. Acudió a la boda de Kelly Kilbride, la asistente de Patti en las giras, y no pudo evitar subir al escenario, donde actuaba la banda de Bobby Bandiera, y cantó «634-5789» y «Roll Over Beethoven», entre otras.
