Bruce Springsteen performed last night at the 8th annual Stand Up For Heroes benefit show. As usual he told a few jokes, offered an acoustic performance and participated in the auction.
For his solo acoustic show he brought back the slide-guitar blues version of «Born in the U.S.A.» plus a long «Growin’ Up», preceded by a story.
Patti Scialfa dueted with Bruce on «If I Should Fall Behind». Other songs performed, to open and close the half-hour show, were «Working on the Highway» and «Dancing in the Dark». After the show Bruce auctioned two guitars (which fetched $300,000 each), a one-hour guitar lesson, a ride in his bike and a lasagna dinner at his house.
Springsteen will be playing at another benefit show next Tuesday: «The Concert for Valor», which will be held at the Mall in Washington on Nov.11th. It is a free show which will be broadcast live by HBO and the show’s website. Other performers include Carrie Underwood, The Black Keys, Eminem, Metallica, Rihanna and more.
