Following the publication of Devils & Dust in 2005, Springsteen embarked on a solo tour for seven months (from April 25 to November 22 of that year), which took him to various cities in the United States, Canada and Europe.

He was accompanied by a multitude of instruments: guitars, banjo, harmonica, dobro, pump organ, electric organ, piano, ukulele… which allowed him to make a thorough review of his song catalog and offer many different versions of all kinds of songs. Some of the shows from that tour were filmed and there was even talks of a possible DVD release, but it never materialized.

Now, thanks for the Archive releases, we finally have an official document of that tour. The seventh installment of the series is now available at the official Live Downloads website. It’s the solo show held in Columbus, Ohio, on July 31, 2005, at a key moment of the tour, where Bruce was debuting new songs each day following many fans’ requests. That particular night featured three tour premieres (the first-ever acoustic version of «Cynthia«, a piano version of «Back in Your Arms» and the first and only live performance of «Lift Me Up«, a song he wrote for the soundtrack of the film Limbo).

It also included the rarely played «When You’re Alone», «Valentine’s Day» and «One Step Up», all of them from Tunnel of Love, plus «For You» and «Lost in the Flood» (two jewels from his debut album) and most of the standards of the tour («Devils & Dust», «Long Time Comin’,» «Reno», «The Hitter», «Matamoros Banks», «Jesus Was An Only Son», «The Rising»…).

The exceptional 24-track recording has been mixed by Toby Scott and is available in different formats to download, and also on CD.

Springsteen publica un concierto de la gira Devils & Dust

Tras la publicación de Devils & Dust en 2005, Springsteen se embarcó en solitario en una gira que durante siete meses (del 25 de abril al 22 de noviembre de ese año) le llevó a diversas ciudades de Estados Unidos, Canadá y Europa.

Le acompañaron multitud de instrumentos: guitarras, banjo, armónica, dobro, armonium, órgano, piano, ukelele… lo cual le permitió hacer una profunda revisión de su repertorio y ofrecer versiones muy variadas y distintas de todo su cancionero. Durante la gira se llegaron a filmar varios conciertos y a punto estuvo de editarse un DVD, pero nunca se materializó.

Finalmente se publica de modo oficial un documento de esa gira, dentro de la serie de grabaciones de archivo que Springsteen viene publicando desde noviembre del año pasado. La séptima entrega, ya disponible en la tienda del artista, es el concierto celebrado en Columbus, Ohio, el 31 de julio de 2005, en un momento clave de la gira, donde Bruce se atrevía a estrenar cada día nuevas canciones. Esa noche en concreto fueron tres las primicias («Cynthia», por primera vez en acústico, «Back in Your Arms» y la primera y única interpretación en directo de «Lift Me Up», canción que escribió exclusivamente para la banda sonora de la película Limbo).

Incluyó además las infrecuentes «When You’re Alone», «Valentine’s Day» y «One Step Up», todas de Tunnel of Love, además de «For You» y «Lost in the Flood» (dos joyas de su álbum de debut) y las canciones habituales de la gira («Devils & Dust», «Long Time Comin'», «Reno», «The Hitter», «Matamoros Banks», «Jesus Was An Only Son», «The Rising»…).

La excepcional grabación de 24 pistas ha sido mezclada por Toby Scott y, como es habitual, está disponible en distintos formatos de descarga y también en CD.

Bruce celebrates his 66th birthday singing with Jackson Browne

Bruce Springsteen is 66, and he celebrated it last night by singing and playing with Jackson Browne at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, a few minutes away from his home.

They sang together «Take It Easy» and «Our Lady of the Well», and Bruce offered some guitar solos too. Both Bruce and Jackson have known each other since 1973 when they used to share the stage in small clubs such as the Main Point in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
