Bruce Springsteen guests on Matt O’Ree’s album

Matt O’Ree Band’s new album Brotherhood comes out November 23rd, and they will celebrate it with a release party at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Bruce Springsteen sings and plays guitar on the album’s first single, «Black Boots».

The song was recorded in 2003, when the current Bon Jovi guitar player started recording the album. Matt told the Asbury Park Press he was teaching Springsteen’s son Sam to play the guitar when he approached Bruce to ask him if he would play on his album: “I saw Bruce after the lesson that day and he mentioned that he liked the song ‘Black Boots,’ so with every ounce of courage I could possibly muster up, I asked, ‘Would you be up for playing on it?’. Bruce took a step back and was like, ‘Yeah, I want to do something on this.’ ”
