In an interview with Fancast.com Max has revealed that he had open heart surgery last February, and that was one of the reasons that influenced him to not continue his TV work.

As he told Adam Buckman: «Frankly, I do prefer living in New Jersey and that was one of the problems I had. I love playing in L.A., but my kids and my wife are back east, and we live part of the time in Italy, so it was hard to structure my life [and have a job in Los Angeles]. I can tell you – I can make a little news here, which I haven’t talked about to anybody, but on Feb. 8, I came to the end of a 26-year watchful, waiting odyssey that culminated in 12 hours of massively invasive open heart surgery«. THE PROMISE: THE MAKING OF DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN, an in-the-studio look at the recording of Bruce Springsteen’s 1978 album, will debut THURSDAY, OCT. 7 (9:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO.

THE PROMISE: THE MAKING OF DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN goes into the studio with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for the recording of their fourth album. Grammy- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny has collaborated with Springsteen on this documentary, gaining access to never before seen footage shot from 1976 to 1978, capturing home rehearsals and recording sessions that reveal Springsteens creative process at work.

There are no news yet about the documentary being shown in Europe, except at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival on Nov. 8th and 9th.
