Max departs from Conan’s new show
It’s now official. In a press release issued yesterday, Conan O’Brien confirms that «by mutual agreement», Max Weinberg will not be part of Conan’s new show at TBS.

CONAN ON MAX
New York, NY (September 27, 2010) – By mutual agreement, Conan O’Brien’s longtime bandleader, Max Weinberg will not be returning to lead the late night band he created in 1993 as Conan moves to his new home at TBS on November 8th.
Beginning on September 13th of 1993 «The Max Weinberg 7» and later «Max Weinberg and The Tonight Show Band» were favorites among both fans and critics. With an uncanny ability to combine high quality music and unmatched comedic timing Max played a pivotal role in Conan O’Brien’s nightly shows.
Conan O’Brien stated, «Max has been a huge part of my life for the past 17 years and he is an incredible band leader and musician. I hope he can find time to stop by the new show, sit in with the band, and pretend to find my monologue funny.»
Added Weinberg, «17 years — a lifetime on TV. Conan and I met on a New York City street corner in the Spring of 1993 and my association with Conan, his staff, and crew has been a deeply rewarding experience for me. And, making music with Jimmy Vivino, Mark Pender, La Bamba, Jerry Vivino, Scott Healey, Mike Merritt, and percussionist James Wormsworth enabled me to become a better musician and bandleader. I thank them for their first rate work on the bandstand. I wish Conan and his show the best and I do look forward to dropping by.»
Max confirma que abandona la televisión
En un comunicado emitido ayer, tanto Conan O’Brien como Max Weinberg confirman que no compartirán plató en la nueva temporada de O’Brien, esta vez en la cadena de cable TBS.
Conan O’Brien indica en la nota de prensa: «Max ha sido una parte inmensa de mi vida durante los últimos 17 años, y es un músico y líder increíble. Espero que encuentre un hueco para pasar por el nuevo programa, para simular que le gusta mi monólogo».
Weinberg añade: «17 años – toda una vida en la tele. Conan y yo nos conocimos en una esquina de Nueva York en la primavera de 1993 y mi asociación con él, su equipo y técnicos ha sido una experiencia profundamente gratificante».

Las malas noticias han llegado a casa de los Weinberg. En primer lugar, Jay Weinberg, batería temporal de la E Street Band en el verano de 2009, ha sido despedido de su actual grupo, Madball. En plena gira, y mientras la banda de hardcore estaba en Canada, el grupo decidió despedirle y mandarlo a casa. Según el comunicado del grupo de Freddy Cricien «Despido a Jay en Canada porque siento que no representa a esta banda con su caracter. No digo que sea un mal baterista. No le quitaré eso. Pero la realidad es que tiene mucho que aprender sobre currárselo y la vida en general. Sé que es sólo un chaval, pero no estoy seguro de que esté hecho para este tipo de vida».
Y mientras su padre, Max Weinberg, sigue de gira con su big band, Jimmy Vivino ha anunciado al periódico Riverfront Times de St.Louis que liderará la banda que acompañará al humorista y presentador Conan O’Brien en su nueva etapa en televisión, esta vez sin Max en la banda. Conan inicia su nueva andadura el 8 de noviembre en la cadena TBS. Aunque Max Weinberg no ha hecho declaraciones al respecto, un representante de Conan ha afirmado que es todavía pronto para confirmar si Max estará o no en el nuevo programa.
Springsteen gives comrades a hand
Lisa Lowell, singer-songwriter and member of the Seeger Sessions Band, has a new album out titled Beautiful Behavior. Springsteen himself gives her a hand and plays guitar on the song «Moulin Rouge». The album, or individual tracks, is available for download at CDBaby.
Scheduled for November 1st is Ray Davies’ new album See my Friends, which opens with his duo with Bruce Springsteen in the song «Better Things». Other guests in the album include Lucinda Williams, Metallica, Jackson Browne and Bon Jovi.
