Bruce Springsteen performs secret show for White House staff

Backstreets revealed yesterday that Bruce Springsteen offered a private acoustic show at The White House on January 12th. The show was held at the East Room for 200 to 250 White House staffers and president Barack Obama and his family.

Springsteen performed some of his classics along with some of his most political work. The 15-song set included «Thunder Road», «Born in the USA», «My Father’s House», «Dancing in the Dark», «The Ghost of Tom Joad», «Long Walk Home», «The Wish», «Growin’ Up» or «Land of Hope and Dreams».

Bruce Springsteen actuó en secreto en la Casa Blanca

La revista norteamericana Backstreets desveló ayer que Bruce Springsteen actuó en la Casa Blanca el pasado jueves 12 de enero, ofreciendo un concierto privado para el presidente Barack Obama y todo su staff, pocos dias antes de que finalice su mandato.

Springsteen actuó, en formato acústico, ante unas 250 personas en la sala East Room de la Casa Blanca en Washington. Fue un concierto emotivo, con el presidente y su esposa en primera fila, que arrancó con «Working on the highway». El repertorio mezcló clásicos con canciones más reivindicativas y algunos éxitos. No faltaron «Thunder Road», «Born in the USA», «The Promised Land» o «Dancing in the Dark», junto a «The Ghost of Tom Joad», «Long Walk Home», «My Hometown», «Growin’ Up» o «Land of Hope and Dreams».

Patti acompañó a Springsteen en un par de canciones, y la velada se cerró con Obama en el escenario despidiéndose de Bruce y de todo el personal de la Casa Blanca que le ha acompañado en estos últimos ocho años.

El Daily Show se despide con la actuación de Bruce Springsteen

E Street Band 06 08 2015Jon Stewart ha sido desde 1999 el presentador, siempre divertido, claro e incisivo, del programa «Daily Show» de la cadena Comedy Central. Ayer se despidió de su audiencia con una actuación, no anunciada, de Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.

Bruce actuó acompañado de toda la banda, aunque sin la sección de vientos (salvo Jake Clemons al saxo), e interpretó «Land of Hope and Dreams» (a petición de Stewart), enlazada con la parte final de «Born to Run», ofreciendo un tono épico a la despedida del presentador.

Era la primera actuación de la banda desde el final de la gira High Hopes en mayo de 2014, y Jon los presentó al final del programa como «aquí está… mi momento zen«.

BruceBonoJessicaAfter this summer’s appearances at shows by Brian Wilson and Joe Grushecky, Bruce Springsteen performed live twice this past weekend, in two consecutive days.

Friday July 31st, and after a week-long string of rumours, Bruce performed with U2 at their final Madison Square Garden show in New York City, and sang with them «I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For» and the non-setlisted «Stand By Me».

The following night was really unexpected. The small Wonder Bar in Asbury Park held a private party, organized by Patti Scialfa under the name of «First Bozo and Bolo Deal Rowdy Reunion». Bruce joined Michael Scialfa’s band Timepiece, playing guitar on most of the set (including «You Really Got a Hold on Me», «Oh, Pretty Woman» or «634-5789»), and taking lead vocals on Van Morrison’s «Brown Eyed Girl» and CCR’s «Born on the Bayou».
