Ladies & Gentlemen… Mr. Bruce Springsteen!

Dos veces se han oído estas palabras este mes. Ambas en el MetLife Stadium de East Rutherford en Nueva Jersey. La primera el 5 de junio cuando Chris Martin de Coldplay anunciaba la presencia de Bruce Springsteen en su concierto, quien se presentó con un «Hello, New Jersey!» antes de cantar «Working on a Dream» y «Dancing in the Dark», acapella en su parte inicial y mostrando una buena forma vocal, alternando estrofas con Chris Martin.

El 16 de junio repitió experiencia en el mismo estadio, esta vez como invitado de Paul McCartney, quien celebraba su 80 cumpleaños. En esta ocasión subió al escenario provisto de una guitarra eléctrica, para tocar «Glory Days» y «I Wanna Be You Man» a duo con el ex-Beatle. Dos leyendas compartiendo escenario, uno de esos momentos que perdurarán en el tiempo (capturado a la perfección por un fan provisto de una cámara 4K).

Bruce se unió a la jam de «The End» que cerró el concierto. Springsteen intercambió solos con los dos guitarristas de McCartney y formó parte, como uno más de la banda, del saludo final.

Bruce Springsteen returned to his home turf to begin the last leg of The River Tour 2016. The opening night at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium featured 35 songs and lasted 3 hours and 52 minutes (making this the third longest show ever, just after Helsinki 2012 and Goteborg 2016).  The wonderful «New York City Serenade» was the chosen one to begin the show (with a string section onstage).

There were seven songs from The River in a very varied setlist, with songs from all the stages of his career (from «Growin’ Up» to «Land of Hope and Dreams», along with «She’s the One», «Something in the Night», «Mansion on the Hill», «Brilliant Disguise» or «Jack of All Trades»), saying goodbye with the most appropriate «Jersey Girl».

Springsteen volvió a su país e inició ayer una gira de diez conciertos que pondrá punto final a la gira mundial The River Tour 2016. Y lo hizo a lo grande: con un concierto de 3 horas y 52 minutos (el tercero más largo de su carrera tras Helsinki 2012 y Goteborg 2016) que empezó magistralmente con «New York City Serenade«, con el acompañamiento de una sección de cuerda.

Sonaron siete de The River en esta ocasión, en un concierto variado con representación de todas las etapas de su carrera (de «Growin’ Up» a «Land of Hope and Dreams», pasando por «She’s the One», «Something in the Night», «Mansion on the Hill», «Brilliant Disguise» o «Jack of All Trades»), hasta el fin del concierto con «Jersey Girl».
