Appleseed will release unreleased Springsteen recording
Bruce Springsteen recorded a bunch of American folk songs in January of 2006, during the third studio session with the Seeger Sessions Band. Most of them appeared on the album We Shall Overcome – The Seeger Sessions that same year, but some remained in the vault.
Appleseed Recordings unveils now one of the outtakes that Bruce Springsteen recorded with the Seeger Sessions Band. Pete Seeger’s «If I Had a Hammer (The Hammer Song)» will be included in the 3CD set Appleseed’s 21st Anniversary: Roots and Branches. The album will be published on October 19th and will also include Springsteen’s version of «We Shall Overcome» plus other songs recorded by Pete Seeger, Tom Morello, TIm Robbins, Joan Baez, Billy Bragg, Jackson Browne and many more.
