Bruce Springsteen actuará en un diminuto club de Asbury Park el 18 de junio
Sí, es cierto. El club Asbury Lanes abre sus puertas de nuevo después de una extensa renovación, y Bruce Springsteen actuará el día de la inauguración (18 de junio) como invitado del grupo telonero (la Tangiers Blues Band de Danny Clinch). El artista principal es Portugal The Man. La venta de entradas beneficiará a la asociación Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County.
El local, con capacidad para solo 750 personas, ocupa el sitio donde durante años estaba el legendario club The Fast Lane, donde Springsteen actuó por sorpresa en diversas ocasiones entre 1978 y 1982.
Sólo hay dos posibilidades de conseguir entradas (y ambas son muy remotas):
- Ser residente en Asbury Park. 100 entradas se sortearán a través de un sistema de lotería,
- Si no vives en Asbury siempre puedes inscribirte en el sorteo que hará la propia sala: un ganador tendrá acceso a 2 entradas y una estancia de una noche en el The Asbury Hotel.
Asbury Lanes re-opens with Bruce Springsteen as guest performer
Yes, it’s true. The Asbury Lanes venue in Asbury Park is re-opening after a big renovation. The bar is located where the old Fast Lane was in the 80s (where Bruce performed several times in 1978, 1980 and 1982).
And yes, it’s also true that Bruce Springsteen will be performing there (as a guest of the opening band: Danny Clinch’s The Tangiers Blues Band) on June 18th, for the grand reopening. The main event will be Portugal The Man. The club holds only 750 people. All of the show’s profits will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County.
Tickets are available only in these two ways:
- You are an Asbury Park resident? 100 tickets available for local residents via a lottery,
- If you’re not an Asbury resident then enter your data here for a chance to win two tickets and a night at The Asbury Hotel. Only 1 winner will get the chance to attend the show.
Steve Van Zandt entra en el New Jersey Hall of Fame
Steve Van Zandt entró ayer a formar parte de la institución New Jersey Hall of Fame, junto a otros eminentes ciudadanos de Nueva Jersey como Gloria Gaynor, Debbie Harry o Meryl Streep.
El discurso de presentación lo dio, como no, su amigo Bruce Springsteen, quien derrochó elogios: «Steve es uno de los mayores autores e intérpretes de soul blanco que tenemos. (…) Tiene una larga carrera como activista. (…) Tiene un programa de radio. (…) Hizo unas producciones increíbles con Southside Johnny (….) Le casó Little Richard…»; para acabar bromeando: «…y es el único hombre que conozco, además de Hugh Hefner, que se las ha apañado para pasar toda la vida en pijama».
El evento acabó con ambos artistas en el escenario cantando «I Don’t Wanna Go Home».
