In the wonderful city of Chicago, Springsteen debuts his version of the sensational «Mony Mony» (by Tommy James & The Shondells –see video of their original 1968 version-), a song that Bruce had previously sung only at small clubs shows in New Jersey or as part of the «Detroit Medley» during The River tour in 1980/81.

Other Chicago highlights include «Spirit in the Night» (as second song of the night, right after «Badlands»), the sign requests («Trapped» and «Candy’s Room»), and a shit hot version of «Jungleland» that gets a large ovation. During the afternoon soundcheck Bruce and the band rehearsed Bob Dylan’s «Like A Rolling Stone», perhaps thinking of the next tour stop? Jay played from «Sunny Day» til the end of the show.

En la espectacular ciudad de Chicago, Springsteen estrena una versión de la sensacional «Mony Mony» de Tommy James & The Shondells (ver vídeo de la versión original de 1968), una canción que anteriormente Bruce sólo había cantando en algunos conciertos en pequeños clubs de Nueva Jersey o bien como parte del «Detroit Medley» en algunas ocasiones durante la gira de The River en 1980/81.

Del concierto de Chicago destacan «Spirit in the Night» (la segunda canción de la noche tras «Badlands»), las peticiones del público («Trapped» y «Candy’s Room»), y una pletórica versión de «Jungleland» que levanta una gran ovación. Durante las pruebas de sonido de la tarde Springsteen ensaya la mítica «Like A Rolling Stone», ¿quizá para el próximo concierto?. Jay tocó ayer desde «Sunny Day» hasta el final del concierto.

Jay Weinberg joined the E Street Band at the St. Paul show since the very beginning with «Badlands» and «Radio Nowhere» and up to «Raise Your Hand», in a show with little surprises. «Is the old man in the house?» asked Bruce when Jay left. Max came up to play for the rest of the evening.

The cover song choosen for this show was The Rascals’ «Good Lovin» (see video of the original Rascals performance) It was followed by more sign requests: «Prove it All Night» and «The E Street Shuffle». «The Wrestler» was dropped in favour of «I’m on Fire», and the show ended with both «Bobby Jean» and «Rosalita».

Jay Weinberg regresa y toca desde el inicio con «Badlands» y «Radio Nowhere» hasta «Raise Your Hand», en un concierto con pocas sorpresas. «¿Está el viejo por aquí?» grita Bruce mientras despide a Jay y da entrada a Max, quien tocará la batería durante el resto del concierto.

La versión elegida de la noche es «Good Lovin» de la extraordinaria banda de Nueva Jersey Rascals (Little Steven fue el encargado de hacer la introducción del grupo de Felix Cavaliere en el Hall of Fame -una actuación tan memorable que le conseguiría el papel de Silvio Dante en la serie Los Soprano-). A ésta le siguieron peticiones de «Prove it All Night» y «The E Street Shuffle». «The Wrestler» fue sustituida ayer por «I’m on Fire», y los bises terminaron con «Bobby Jean» y «Rosalita». Mañana la gira se traslada a la fabulosa ciudad de Chicago.
