The Pinkpop Festival was Bruce’s first stop on the 2009 European tour. Festival concert-goers got a two and a half hour show full of greatest hits, and only two songs off the new album (even “Kingdom of Days” and the usual cover of “Hard Times” were dropped from the set). In the sign-request chapter there was “Trapped”, “I’m on Fire” and the tour premiere of “From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)”, plus “Thunder Road” sung as a duet with guest vocalist Brendan Flowers (from The Killers). Jay Weinberg sat on the drums (as he’ll be doing in the forthcoming shows) and Patti was absent.photo: copyright 2009 René Van Diemen

31 mayo, 2009El festival de Pinkpop fue ayer la primera parada de la gira europea de Bruce Springsteen. Dos horas y media de concierto repletas de grandes éxitos, y con tan sólo dos canciones del nuevo disco (incluso “Kingdom of Days” y la versión de “Hard Times” desaparecieron ayer del set list). En el capítulo de novedades, el estreno en la gira de “From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)”, y la aparición de Brendan Flowers, cantante de The Killers, para cantar “Thunder Road” a duo con Springsteen. Denunciadas 3 empresas de reventa por ofrecer entradas de Springsteen

La fiscal general de Nueva Jersey ha denunciado a 3 empresas por ofrecer entradas para los conciertos que Springsteen ofrecerá en octubre en Nueva Jersey antes de que éstas se hayan siquiera puesto a la venta (lo cual sucederá el 1 de junio).La demanda indica que las tres empresas (Select-A-Ticket, Orbitz Worldwide y TicketNetwork Inc.) infringen las leyes de consumo de Nueva Jersey al aceptar dinero por entradas que no tienen, ya que no han salido aún a la venta.
“Es un fraude ofrecer un producto que no se posee, y quizá nunca se posea, y mi obligación es acabar con estas prácticas engañosas”, ha dicho la fiscal general Anne Milgram.
Además, estas empresas ofrecen en su página web entradas en filas y asientos que ni siquiera existen en el estadio de los Giants.

24 mayo, 2009Bruce says goodbye to his New Jersey neighbors with a phenomenal performance, possibly the best of the tour so far. With the E Street Band in full force, the last show of the US Spring tour features three tour premieres and lots of vintage classics. No less than 3 songs from The Wild, The Innocent... (“The E Street Shuffle”, “Incident on 57th Street” -tour premiere- and a vibrant version of “Kitty’s Back” -one of the highlights of the night-). Plus tow more tour premieres (“Something in the Night” and “Cover Me”), “Good Lovin” (during the sign-request collecting) and “Mony Mony” closing the night.
Max Weinberg was back last night, playing stronger than ever alongside his E Street Band buddies, who went the extra mile. Patti was absent.
Next: the tour lands in Euro land on May 30th, with a show at the Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands.

24 mayo, 2009Segundo concierto en Nueva Jersey y último de la primera parte de la gira americana. Bruce se despide de sus vecinos con un concierto vibrante, comparable a los buenos conciertos de la gira Magic. Según muchos asistentes, este es uno de los mejores conciertos hasta ahora, con la E Street Band a toda máquina, dirigida por el incombustible Max Weinberg, quien tras alternarse a la batería con su hijo en días recientes, parece haber adquirido energías renovadas y ayer bateó con más fuerza de la habitual, recobrando con merecimiento su apodo de “Poderoso Max”.
En Nueva Jersey Springsteen recuperó canciones épicas de los 70, llegando a tocar 3 canciones del álbum The Wild, The Innocent... (a saber: “The E Street Shuffle”, “Incident on 57th Street” -estreno en la gira- y una apoteósica versión de “Kitty’s Back” -uno de los momentos álgidos del concierto de ayer-). Además estrenó “Something in the Night” y “Cover Me”, recuperó “Good Lovin” en el momento de recoger carteles del público, y se despidió, tras casi tres horas, con la versión de “Mony Mony” estrenada semanas atrás.
El próximo 30 de mayo empezará la gira europea con una actuación en el festival Pinkpop, en Holanda.
