Goteborg
The River tour reached the shores of Sweden this past weekend, with two shows at Goteborg’s Ullevi Stadium, where Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performed 55 different songs.
The first night was quite similar to the typical 2016 European tour sets: few songs off The River and lots of standard songs from recent tours, plus a few surprises like the piano version of «The Promise» in the opening slot, a great «Save My Love» or the tour premieres of «Tunnel of Love» and «Shackled and Drawn». The show lasted 3 hours and 58 minutes and became the second longest ever (only after the epic Helsinki performance in 2012), and ties with New Year’s 1980 as the one with most songs (38).
But the second night, Monday Night, things got reversed and it was finally a «proper» River tour show: 10 songs off The River (including «The Price You Pay», «Independence Day» and «I’m a Rocker» -first Euro appearance this year-), along with numerous rarities and tour premieres: «Racing in the Street», «Lucky Town», «Mary’s Place» (opening the show), «Something in the Night», «Candy’s Room», «Jole Blon» or the majestic «Jungleland». An acoustic rendition of «This Hard Land» said goodbye to one of the countries where Springsteen’s fandom is stronger (Bruce will be back for a third round in late July).
