Springsteen auctions guitar, jacket and bike at benefit concert

Bruce Springsteen sang 3 songs yesterday («The Promised Land», «Thunder Road» and «The Rising») at the 2nd «Stand Up For Heroes» benefit show organized by the Bob Woodruff Fund to help injured Iraq War Veterans.

After his acoustic set, Bruce auctioned his acoustic guitar, his leather jacket and his ’94 Harley Davidson bike. The guitar was sold for $50,000. Bruce played to the tune of «Johnny B.Goode» while it was being auctioned by Whoopi Goldberg. The bike and the leather jacket fetched $75,000. «I’ve cleaned out my garage» said Bruce, who also told some jokes during the event.

Bruce Springsteen cantó ayer 3 canciones acústicas («The Promised Land», «Thunder Road» y «The Rising») en el concierto benéfico «Stand Up For Heroes» que organizó por segundo año la fundación del periodista Bob Woodruff. Esta fundación se dedica a ayudar económicamente a los soldados que vuelven heridos de la guerra de Irak.

Además de cantar Bruce subastó su guitarra acústica, su chaqueta de cuero y una motocicleta Harley Davidson de 1994. La guitarra se vendió en la subasta, dirigida por Whoopi Goldberg, por 50.000 dólares mientras Bruce tocaba la melodía de «Johnny B.Goode» con ella. La moto y la chaqueta se vendieron conjuntamente por 75.000 dólares. «Ya he vaciado mi garage» dijo Bruce, quien el año anterior había subastado otra Harley, que fue adquirida por el cómico Robbin Williams para regalarla a su esposa. Springsteen estuvo muy animado durantre la velada e incluso contó algunos chistes.

Bruce Springsteen y Patti Scialfa han confirmado su presencia, por segundo año consecutivo, en el concierto benéfico «Stand Up For Heroes«. El show lo organiza la Fundación Bob Woodruff Family, cuyo objetivo es ayudar a los soldados americanos que vuelven heridos de la guerra. El concierto forma parte del New York Comedy Festival, y se celebrará en el Town Hall de Nueva York el próximo 5 de noviembre. Las entradas ya están a la venta en internet a través de Ticketmaster.

Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa will perform, for the second time, at the yearly benefit concert «Stand Up For Heroes«. The show is organized by the Bob Woodruff Family Fund, which works to provide resources and support for wounded soldiers as they return home. It is part of the New York Comedy Festival, and will take place at Town Hall in New York City on November 5th. Tickets are now available thru Ticketmaster.
