La pareja formada por Ed y Jen se va a una playa de Nueva Jersey con su fotógrafo para hacerse fotos pre-boda. Se llevan la guitarra y se hacen fotos con ella. Al rato aparece un tipo que les da conversación y acaba tocando la guitarra y haciéndose fotos con ellos. Había ido a ver la puesta de sol, les dice. Se llama Bruce. Ocurrió el lunes, 20 de septiembre, en una playa desconocida de Nueva Jersey.
El viernes fue el turno de Max Weinberg y su Big Band en el escenario del Stone Pony para una gran noche de música:

Con el inicio del calendario escolar Bruce Springsteen ha vuelto, como en años anteriores, al escenario del Stone Pony en Asbury Park, nuevamente para dar un concierto privado a beneficio de la escuela de su hijo. Acompañado de la banda de Bobby Bandiera, esta vez con Max Weinberg a la batería, Bruce y sus colegas tocaron durante tres horas la noche del sábado. Sonaron los clásicos de cada año, como «634-5789», «Two Hearts», «Seven Nights to Rock», «Glory Days», «Cadillac Ranch», «Twist & Shout» o «Thunder Road», junto a material más reciente («Working on a Dream», «My Lucky Day») y algunas rarezas, incluyendo una trepidante versión de «Rosalita», una sentida «Sandy» o la infalible «Spirit in the Night», con paseo entre el público incluido. Entre los invitados, destaca Southside Johnny, quien subió al escenario en diversas ocasiones para cantar en «Talk to me», «The Fever», «I Don’t Wanna go Home», «In the Midnight Hour» y el Detroit Medley».

Bobby Bandiera and his band, including Max Weinberg for the occasion, backed Bruce for almost three hours, playing the usual «suspects» («634-5789», «Two Hearts», «Seven Nights to Rock», «Glory Days», «Cadillac Ranch», «Twist & Shout», etc.), plus a few rarities, including «Rosalita» and «Sandy». Southside Johnny joined the band for «Talk to me», «The Fever», «I Don’t Wanna go Home», «In the Midnight Hour» and the «Detroit Medley». Bruce went down thru the Pony’s audience during «Spirit in the Night».
