SEE YOU UP THE ROAD!
It's over. 7 months, and an amazing 140 different songs over 74 shows. The Devils & Dust tour (or should we say the "Christic tour revisited"?) ended last night with a final show in Trenton that brought another 4 tour premieres, including the 1973 song "Zero and Blind Terry" (for the first time since February 1974) plus "Fire" (done thru the bullet mike), "Mansion on the Hill" (with this one the whole Nebraska album has been performed on this tour, Patti guested on this one) and a festive "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" during the encores, with about 15 family members and friends onstage, including Bruce's children. Some of the classic songs from the tour that hadn't been performed lately got a final chance, like "My Beautiful Reward", "Leah" and "Further On (Up The Road)". Amongst the rarities, "Backstreets" reappeared, plus the now usual performances of "Drive All Night" and "Thundercrack". Again, Alan Fitzgerald ("the man behind the curtain") was onstage to play the very rare "Song for Orphans". Bruce thanked "everyone for giving me a good year", and gave thanks to his crew, Terry Magovern and "all the fans": "I really love playing like this... but to do it, you really need a great audience -- and I've had great audiences this year. You did a good job -- and it's a job! That's hard listening! 'We're not talking! We're listening!'". Check out the full set list from last night's show in our set lists page. (thanks to Backstreets.com for the transcription of Bruce's words).

THE FIRST GRAND FINALE
The first night in Trenton brought already a bunch of super rarities to the show, something cool and really unexpected. Opening with a tribute to Link Wray, Bruce did a very electric version of "Rumble". Later on he did two great piano songs: "Fade Away" and "Meeting Across the River". A bluesy version of "Saint in the City" followed. The next bunch of piano songs included "Two for the Road", "Santa Ana" and "Drive All Night". But the biggest surprise of the night was the debut of "Song to Orphans", a song still unreleased which he hadn't played live (that we know of) since the Max's Kansas City shows in New York in January of 1973. For it, he introduced Alan Fitzgerald (the mysterious keyboard player, in case you're wondering) and had him onstage playing the grand piano for this obscure song. Tonight, 2nd night in Trenton and last show of the Devils & Dust tour. What else is in the can Bruce? The Price You Pay, at last? Jungleland? Check out the full set list from last night's show in our set lists page.

Right: Steven, Clarence and Bruce in Florida last saturday.

WHEN THE BIG MAN JOINED THE BAND...
Add two guests to a fabulous set list and what you get is a spectacular show. Last night in Hollywood, Florida, the Big Man joined the one-man band. But he was not alone, as he brought his sax and E Street Band buddy Steven Van Zandt and both joined Bruce for a mesmerizing "Drive All Night". Later on, Steven played during "Two Hearts" and both Clarence and Steven were onstage again for an encore of the 1973 classic "Thundercrack". Other highlights of the show were the debut of "Roll of the Dice" (at the piano) plus "Meeting Across the River", "Santa Ana" and "Fade Away". Check out the full set list of this great show in our set lists page. The Devils & Dust tour will finally come to an end on monday and tuesday with two shows in Trenton, New Jersey.

GUITAR LEGEND LINK WRAY DIES AT 76
A danish newspaper has published that Link Wray, living in Denmark for the last two decades, passed away recently at age 76. Rockabilly legend since the late 50's, Wray recorded the album "Fresh Fish Special" with Robert Gordon in 1978. The album included the then unreleased Springsteen song "Fire", where Bruce himself played piano. Bruce joined Gordon and Wray several times onstage in 1977 in New York and Asbury Park (see photo, taken in NYC).

EAST RUTHERFORD #2: CELEBRATING BORN TO RUN
With no signs of the cold, and back in great shape, Springsteen celebrated the 'Born to Run 30th Anniversary' release debuting two of the BTR songs at his second concert in East Rutherford: a solo piano version of "Meeting Across The River" on the main set, followed in the encores by a guitar/harp version of "Born to Run". But that wasn't all. Back in the set were the rarely performed "Used Cars", "Two for the Road", "Frankie", "Drive All Night" and "Thundercrack". Patti Scialfa made her D&D tour debut when she joined Bruce for "Brilliant Disguise". Check out the full set list of this great show in our set lists page.

See a video from the show at the Star Ledger website.

EAST RUTHERFORD #1
Fighting a cold, with some tea, Bruce Springsteen delivered a strong performance last night in East Rutherford. Still included some of the recent surprising debuts such as "The Wall", "Drive All Night", "Santa Ana" and "Thundercrack", plus the second tour performance of "Backstreets", dedicated to Jon Landau, and an ukulele version of "Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street". Check out the full set list of this great show in our set lists page.

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING... AND NOW IT'S HERE
Bruce Springsteen's majestic Born to Run reissue box set is finally here, and it's even more amazing than you'd ever think! The brilliant documentary DVD reveals a lot of details about the recording of the album (including that fantastic footage of the actual recording in the studio) and the early years of Bruce's career. Read the Jon Landau interview on the New York Times for even more details and the story of how the footage was obtained (they do have now about 100 hours of vintage Bruce on film, including the legendary shows at the Bottom Line and The Roxy in 1975). On the same link you'll be able to see a clip of She's The One live from the Hammersmith Odeon. Plus, a fantastic sounding Born to Run audio disc, and the essential footage film as recorded live at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1975, shot with 4 cameras and recorded with stunning audio quality. Keep 'em coming Bruce.

SIRIUS RADIO ROCKS
And if haven't had enough, listen now to Sirius radio's E Street Channel, where not only you'll hear Bruce music 24-hours a day, but also a lot of rare, unreleased live concerts and studio outtakes, all with the Boss' approval. The channel has been airing unreleased takes of "Thunder Road" and "Jungleland", unreleased songs of all kinds (some never heard before, like "Lonely Night in the Park") and numerous live concerts, plus exclusive interviews with Clarence Clemons, Jon Landau, Little Steven and Bruce himself. ATLANTIC CITY SPECIAL
Springsteen's return to Atlantic City included a bunch of rarities in a very long set which included the two Philly specials "Thundercrack" and "Santa Ana", plus "Drive All Night", "Sandy", "Fade Away", "Maria's Bed", "Janey Don't You Lose Heart" and "Brilliant Disguise". Check out the full set list of this great show in our set lists page.

2nd DRIVE ALL NIGHT, 2nd BRUCE AT NORFOLK
Second tour version of "Drive All Night" tonight, and two Bruces onstage: Springsteen and Hornsby, contributing his keyboard skills on "You Can Look" and "Across the Border", the song which surprisingly closed the main set instead of "Matamoros Banks", left off the show for the first time on the tour. Other highlights tonight included "Point Blank", "Downbound Train" and a great set of encores with "Growin' Up", "Open All Night" and "Blinded By The Light", plus a surprising tour premiere: "The Wall", a song co-written with Joe Grushecky, still unreleased, and debuted at the two Doubletake benefit concerts in Somerville in February of 2003 (and a very appropriate choice for Veterans Day). Check out the full set list of this great show in our set lists page.

FIRE ON THE FINGERTIPS
If "Drive All Night" needed 24 years to be heard again live, the songs debuted tonight at the second show in Philadelphia took a whopping 32 years! We're talking about two early days classics like "Santa Ana" and "Thundercrack", both at the piano (both from Tracks, or better say, both from the legendary boot Fire on the Fingertips), beautifully performed by Bruce, with a very extended sing a long ending to the latter, which he nailed. A tremendous concert which included rare performances of "Used Cars", "Independence Day", "Adam Raised a Cain" and "Janey Don't You Lose Heart". Check out the full set list of this great show in our set lists page.

HEART & SOUL
24 years after its last performance, "Drive All Night" came backto life today at the first of two shows at the historic Spectrum arena in Philadelphia (proving that right now, everything is possible). And it was a hell of a version, with an extraordinary vocal performance and Bruce hitting every right note at the piano and receiving a thunderous standing ovation. "Born in the U.S.A." (done ala "Reason to Believe") debuted too, opening the show, which also included superb performances of "Fade Away", "Atlantic City", "Ain't Got You" and "Open All Night". Check out the full set list of this great show in our set lists page.

BACK TO BUSINESS
The Tampa show last Friday was a return to the regular "rarities" set. Leaving aside the "standard" set list that characterized the latest shows (up to the Boston filming), Bruce offered again in Tampa a mix of classic tour songs plus a good bunch of rarities, opening with The River's "Fade Away", and including not-so-often performed tunes such as "Be True", "Wreck on the Highway" and "Cynthia".

29 October 2005
BOSTON #1
In the first of two shows in Boston, presumably being filmed, Bruce offered a typical Devils & Dust tour set list, opening with "Idiot's Delight" and "Living Proof" and with many songs off the D&D album that hadn't been played often in the past two months, like "Silver Palomino", "The Hitter" and "Leah". The piano set included "You Can Look", "All That Heaven Will Allow" and classics like "The River", "Racing in the Street" or "Tougher Than the Rest".

LIGHT OF DAY HITS THE ROAD
For the first time, Light Of Day will go on the road for a show at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California. The December 12th event will feature Wallflowers leader Jakob Dylan, Jesse Malin, Peter Case, Jimmy Lafave, Willie Nile, Dave Alvin, Scott Kempner and others.

If Hollywood isn't enough, Light Of Day has also gone international, with the announcement of a Light Of Day concert event Rome's Big Mama club on November 22nd.

Light of Day 6 is dedicated to Joan Dancy who succumbed to ALS after a valiant struggle. Joan was the fiancée of Terry Magovern and a good friend to many in the New Jersey music community. Joan loved music and we will celebrate her life with music. Net proceeds from Light of Day 6 will be donated to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation and the ALS Association's Greater Philadelphia Chapter for their patient support programs.

For the first time in Europe, starting from Rome, in collaboration with LOD and Aip (Associazione Italiana Parkinson) the LIGHT OF DAY – ITALIA will have its debut on November 22, 2005 at Big Mama club (www.bigmama.it ) in Rome.

To introduce and recreate the Jersey shore atmosphere, the event will start with author Ermanno Labianca, a Bruce Springsteen long-time fan and Jersey shore “adoptive son” (and also a friend of Bob Benjamin), who will present his new book “Real World - Sulle strade di Bruce Springsteen” (Real World: on the streets of Bruce Springsteen), a collaboration with photographer Giovanni Canitano (Arcana Books).

While reflecting on Bruce's new songs and paying homage to the legendary E Street Band, the book provides a passionate and stunning view of the Jersey Shore, through shows sites, streets, bars, theatres, sidewalks and faces that are part of Bruce Springsteen's “real world”. A photographic exhibition of Giovanni Canitano's best shots will be displayed at site, where also a benefit raffle will be held. The night will go on rockin' acoustic with Lorenzo “Miami” Semprini (previously seen on stage at Stone Pony for LOD 5). Following the Montecalvo “blood brothers” Andrea and Tony to lead their band, The Backstreets, unplugged. Antonio Zirilli and his band Thundercrack, reunited for the event, will close the event with an electric set of Bruce and Americana's favourites. A raffle with special prizes will be held.

Tickets can be purchased at box office and all the money raised will be donated to PDF and Aip. For further info email : lightofdayitalia@fastwebnet.it .

Light of Day 6 is produced by the Light Of Day Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and Concerts East.

Light of Day 6 is sponsored by Shop Rite. Razor & Tie Music is also a contributing sponsor.

RICHMOND
Not much surprises in Richmond, but some welcomed come-backs, including "My Beautiful Reward", "Growin' Up, "Sandy", "Nothing Man" and "Incident on 57th Street".

PROVIDENCE
Friday's show in Providence featured a set list more similar to the ones from the beginning of the tour, with songs like "The River", "For You", "Real World", "Part Man Part Monkey" or "Leah". Highlights included a piano version of "You Can Look", the wonderful "Valentine's Day" (dedicated to Jon Landau's daughter, Kate) and the ukulele version of "Growin' Up". Check out the full set list for this concert.

THEY GOT THE FEVER
Right. They got the fever in Worcester last night. Both the song (tour debut, done at the piano and followed by "The Promise") and the stupid clapping fever. Bruce had to tell the audience: "Whoever is clapping during the songs is driving me up a fucking wall. I don't want to be the clapping nazi, but if someone does it in your section then give it to them". Guess what? That warning didn't help much to lower the moron factor. Set list wise it was another great selection, with "Across the Border", "The New Timer", "I Wanna Marry You", "I'm On Fire", "Brilliant Diguise" and a great piano set with "When You're Alone", "Racing in the Street" and "Lost in the Flood". During soundcheck time, Bruce tried out "Kitty's Back" on the autoharp. Check out the full set list for this concert.

WE NEED HELP ON THE GUITAR... WHO IS THIS MAN?
Like in 1987. Same city, same band, same introduction... U2 were playing at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia last night when history repeated. During the encores they asked for some help and Bruce Springsteen joined them onstage to sing "People Get Ready" with Bono and trade guitar solos with The Edge. Patti Scialfa joined too for some vocals. The place went nuts with chants of "Brooooce". See more photos at the Concerts page.

The new "People Get Ready" lyrics, as sung by Bono:

'People get ready
Cos the boss is in town
He don't suffer no fools
Or kiss no clowns
The boy is from New Jersey
But he feels home round here
New York – they're gonna shed some tears.'

'People get ready
He's a funky brother
Plucking that old guitar
Like you know that he can
People get ready
Cos there is no other
Bruce springsteen is back in town'

'People get ready
For trouble and strife
You know the boss
Has brought the wife
People get ready
She's a little shy
But a red haired girl
Just a bit of encouragement
And we'll get her there

'Beautiful girl from the Jersey shore
With a voice like an angel
You know we love you some more
Walk like a Princess
And you talk like a gypsy
And I can't believe that you're
Gonna stand next to me'

Check out the full set list for this concert.

CHICAGO
Despite the lack of tour premieres, last night's show in Chicago was remarkable. An excellent vocal performance and a strong set list made for the night. Opening with "Idiot's Delight", highlights included "State Trooper", "Highway Patrolman", "This Hard Land", the autoharp version of "The New Timer", "Racing in the Street", "When You're Alone", the always welcomed "I Wish I Were Blind", and "Growin' Up" (with ukulele) on the encores. And yes, the moroning stage rush is back as security did nothing to stop it this time. Check out the full set list for this concert.

THUNDER ROAD RESURRECTED
After what he called a "well deserved rest", "Thunder Road" came back and was premiered on this tour, at the piano. "The New Timer", off the Tom Joad album, debuted too (in the "Hitter" spot). Other highlights from last night's show in Minneapolis (the only 'real' theatre on this lef of the tour) include the opening with "Wreck on the Highway", plus "One Step Up", "Back In Your Arms", "For You" and a wild "Ain't Got You". Oh, and for the first time in a very long time, there was no stage rush. A brass barrier behind the first three rows made the job and had the morons go back to their seats. Check out the full set list for this concert.

10 October 2005
NO PREMIERES AT NASSAU COLISEUM
Despite the lack of tour premieres (for the first time in a very long time) still a very strong set list with "Stolen Car" (piano) in the opening spot, followed by "Idiot's Delight" and the always impressing "Living Proof". "Back in your arms" is done at the piano. "Johnny 99", back in the set after months, is done in the "Reason to Believe" style. "Darkness", "This Hard Land" and "My Best Was Never Good Enough" are back in the set, along with the recently premiered "I Wanna Marry You" (dedicated to a couple of spanish in their honeymoon) and "The Ties That Bind". Check out the full set list for this concert. A rumour has it that both Boston shows will be filmed by HBO. As we say, it's just a rumour at the moment.

8 October 2005
HARTFORD
Another intense and long performance full of ratities and two tour premieres: "Something in the Night" and "You Can Look". Fifteen song changes from the previous show that include 2 TOL songs, two organ songs to open ("Back in your arms" and "Wreck on the Highway", the return of "The Hitter" and a couple of observations from Bruce. After "Matamoros Banks": "Quit the fuckin' rush" and then during "The Promised Land": "I'll handle percussion!" (which brought a big laugh from the audience). Check out the full set list for this concert.

7 October 2005
ROCHESTER
The first "official" show of the fall tour gets an splendid premiere: "Independence Day" (performed at the piano) plus the usual amount of rarities: "Idiot's Delight" and "Living Proof" open the show once again, "The Ties That Bind" gets a second chance on the encores, and "Maria's Bed" and "My Father's House" get back on the set after a while. Check out the full set list for this concert.

5 October 2005
THUNDERCRACK! BRUCE IS BACK.
No, he did not premiere Thundercrack, though it was soundchecked. The show last night in Asbury Park brought back some rarities (Living Proof, Sandy, Be True) and four tour premieres: the opening "Idiot's Delight" (co-written with Joe Grushecky and released on Joe's album "Coming Home") plus "Atlantic City" (piano), "The Ties That Bind" (guitar) plus an encore with "I Wanna Marry You" (with ukelele). Check out the full set list for this great concert. Read the Asbury Park Press review of this show.

BRUCE LIVE ON N.J. RADIO STATION
Yesterday Bruce showed up at Brookdale College Radio Station in Lincroft, NJ, and performed two acoustic songs live on the radio in support for the radio station's pledge drive. The "90.5 The Night" program had Bruce perform "If I Should Fall behind" and "All The Way Home". The radio station issued today a press release, as follows:

Local artist shows his support for 90.5 The NIGHT

(Lincroft, NJ 10-03-05)

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Bruce Springsteen stopped by the studios of Brookdale Public Radio this afternoon to show his support for the station's Fall Membership Drive. Bruce was able to spend over a half hour on the air with music director Jeff Raspe, playing some songs from both his latest studio cd as well as from his back catalogue on his acoustic guitar.

The platinum selling artist also spent part of the interview prompting the listeners to support 90.5 The NIGHT, the non-commercial radio station of Brookdale Community College, by either calling 732-224-2492, or online at 90.5thenight.org.

Springsteen, who is giving a benefit concert for the New Jersey chapter of the American Red Cross tomorrow in Asbury Park, credits the station for playing a wide variety of music, and even turning him onto new artists and songs.

OFFICIAL BORN TO RUN ANNOUNCEMENT
The big news just announced by Shore Fire Media:

COLUMBIA RECORDS TO RELEASE HISTORIC 'BORN TO RUN 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION' ON NOVEMBER 15
BOX SET WILL INCLUDE THREE SEPARATE DISCS INCLUDING A STUNNING DVD OF THE LEGENDARY 1975 HAMMERSMITH ODEON CONCERT; A DVD OF "WINGS FOR WHEELS: THE MAKING OF BORN TO RUN," WITH NEVER BEFORE SEEN ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE AND NEW INTERVIEWS WITH ALL THE BAND MEMBERS AND MANY OTHERS; AND A CD OF THE BRILLIANTLY REMASTERED 'BORN TO RUN'

Columbia Records will release the 'Born To Run 30th Anniversary Edition' box set on November 15. Personally supervised by Bruce Springsteen and Jon Landau, the box set includes "Hammersmith Odeon, London '75," an astonishing film of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's legendary 1975 concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London; the new film "Wings For Wheels: The Making of Born To Run;" the classic album in remastered CD form; and finally, a 48 page booklet of previously unpublished photographs. With its two DVDs, the package offers approximately four hours of previously unseen footage.

"I believe that the combination of the great 1975 concert footage, the brilliant documentary of the making of the album and the dazzling remastering of 'Born to Run' add up to a nearly perfect storm of Bruce's music," said longtime manager Jon Landau.

Spanning roughly two hours and ten minutes, the November 18, 1975 concert at London's Hammersmith Odeon finds an epic performance of sixteen Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band classics, including "Thunder Road," "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out," "Jungleland," and "Born To Run," as well as such other favorites such as "Kitty's Back" and "Rosalita." The multiple-camera film of the complete concert will be available in its entirety and its original sequence, as newly edited by Emmy Award Winner Thom Zimny. "Hammersmith Odeon, London '75" is the only full-length concert film ever released of Bruce and the E Street Band's first 25 years.

Zimny's production team painstakingly cleaned the original negatives and digitally restored the footage, ultimately presenting this indispensable concert in vibrant color and detail. Producer Bob Clearmountain remastered and remixed the DVD in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Zimny has worked with Springsteen on several projects, including editing the Emmy-winning "Live in New York," the quadruple-platinum certified, Emmy-nominated "Live in Barcelona" and the "VH1 Storytellers" films. Clearmountain is the legendary mixer who has often collaborated with Springsteen over the last twenty- five years, most famously on 'Born in the USA.'

The ninety-minute documentary "Wings For Wheels: The Making of Born To Run" chronicles the definitive story of the creation of 'Born To Run,' from songwriting to production and beyond. "Wings For Wheels" boasts archival film never shown publicly, including substantial footage of Springsteen and the E Street Band recording the album, 1975 concert film and other footage shot between 1973 and 1975. The film also features exclusive footage of Springsteen playing solo piano and guitar versions of songs from 'Born To Run.'

In addition, "Wings For Wheels" incorporates newly filmed interviews with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, including former members who played on the album, as well as the production team. In newly shot footage from Asbury Park, NJ, Springsteen discusses his personal feelings about the making of the iconic album in great depth; the footage with Springsteen includes the musician reflecting on outtakes and unreleased tracks from the album for the first time since 1975. The DVD of "Wings For Wheels: The Making of Born to Run" ends with stunning bonus footage of three songs recorded live at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theater in 1973: "Spirit In The Night," "Wild Billy's Circus Story" and " Thundercrack."

Finally, the box set will feature a CD of the newly remastered 'Born To Run,' as well as a remarkable 48-page photo album of previously unpublished photographs with an introduction written by Springsteen. This is the first time Springsteen has allowed any of his catalogue to be fully remastered and he enlisted his longtime mastering guru Bob Ludwig to handle the job. The newly remastered version presents the masterpiece with striking clarity and presence. Widely regarded as one of the cornerstone albums in rock and roll history, 'Born To Run' has been recognized by many international polls as one of the greatest albums of all time. It has sold nearly nine million albums worldwide. Of 'Born To Run,' which was originally released August 25, 1975, Rolling Stone wrote, "It is a magnificent album that pays off on every bet ever placed on him—and it should crack his future wide open."

THE ICELAND SURPRISE
Coming back home on June 29th after the last european show in Berlin, Bruce's plane stoped at the Keflavik Int'l Airport in Iceland to re-fuel. While at the terminal, Bruce took his guitar and delighted the terminal's workers with a 6-song acoustic performance. At 2.am. on June 29th Bruce sang "Dancing in the Dark", "Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street" and some other songs, and chatted amicably with the airport's personnel.

28 June 2005
TWO FACES HAVE I
The continued changes in the set list and so many tour premieres raised a lot of expectactions for the last European show in Berlin. But today's surprises were not such: Tom Joad's "Sinaloa Cowboys" and "Hungry Heart" (duo with Wolfgang Niedecken) debuted in a show that began with a banjo version of "Adam Raised a Cain" and has included "Silver Palomino", "Two Faces", "All The Way Home" and "SPare Parts". Other gems performed tonight: "Black Cowboys", "The Promise" and "Point Blank".

23 June 2005
IT WAS 24 YEARS AGO...
...during The River tour in 1981 that Bruce played "Fade Away" for the last time, until today. A great piano version of the song has been one of the highlights of the Goteborg show, along with "Highway 29", "Highway Patrolman", "Lucky Town", "Incident on 57th Street" or "Racing in the Street". The encores get twisted again and he does "Maria's Bed" after "Cadillac Ranch" and "Bobby Jean".

22 June 2005
THE SPIRIT OF COPENHAGEN
One more show, one more city and another set full of surprises. Still in the set: "I'm On Fire", "Incident", "Cadillac Ranch" and "All I'm Thinkin About", plus comeback rarity "Wish I Were Blind" and more tour premieres: "Straight Time" (by request), "Spirit in the Night" and "Wild Billy's Circus Story".

20 June 2005
TWO AMERICANS IN PARIS... AND ROTTERDAM
Elliott Murphy was at the Rotterdam show yesterday, but just to see and taste his first show on this tour (he later commented he thought the show was "fabulous"). Tonight in Paris he joined Springsteen onstage and the two american legends performed "Better Days". The last two shows have brought two fantastic performances and a lot of surprises. On Father's Day in Rotterdam Bruce debuted "Adam Raised a Cain" and sang (for the second time only on this tour) "My Father's House" and "Countin' on a Miracle". In Paris "Cadillac Ranch" debuted (in a similar style to the recent version of "Ramrod"), and again, like in Rotterdam, Bruce sat down at the piano for 6 songs. "Two Faces" and "For You" were the highlights in Rotterdam, replaced in Paris by "Point Blank", "Real World" and "Mary's Place". Two long, great shows.

16 June 2005
TWISTIN' THE SET LIST IN DUSSELDORF
A fantastic third night in Germany brings three tour premieres: the great "Wish I Were Blind" along with "Highway 29" and a piano version of "Mary's Place", in a show that also included two great classic ballands: "Incident on 57th Street" and "Racing in the Street". "All I'm Thinkin' About" stays in the set list and both "I'm On Fire" and "This Hard Land" get a main-set performance. "Bobby Jean" is in the encores in the "Land of Hope and Dreams" spot. On the bad side , the surprising early stage rush just after "The Hitter".

FRANKFURT
The second show of the german tour brings another premiere: the piano version of "Countin' on a Miracle" in a show with a total of six piano songs ("Two Faces", "For You", The River", "Jesus Was an Only Son" and the rare "Lost in the Flood"), plus some unusual stuff like "Open All Night", "The Ghost of Tom Joad" or "All I'm Thinkin' About"). Next are Dusseldorf tomorrow and Rotterdam on Sunday..

13 June 2005
CAUGHT THEM POINT BLANK IN MUNICH
After a 6-day break Bruce is back in Europe and tonight's show in Munich brought two tour premieres: "Into the Fire" (opening the show) plus a piano version of "Point Blank". Both "Book of Dreams" and "Bobby Jean" make their european debuts. During a long soundcheck Bruce rehearsed some yet undebuted songs like "All That Heaven Will Allow" and "Countin' On A Miracle". Next stop: Frankfurt, this coming wednesday.

Both "Brilliant Disguise" and "Lucky Town" remain in the main set.

ROME
A couple of tour premieres in Rome: "Brilliant Disguise" and "Lucky Town". While one of Morricone's tunes was on the PA, Bruce entered the stage and opened with the banjo version of "I'm On Fire". Morricone was in the audience tonight.

5 June 2005
ITALIAN TOUR BEGINS...
...with a pretty good set which included the tour debut of the rarely performed "My Father's House". The show also included a 3-song piano set, another first for the tour. No news on the "moron factor/stage rush" yet.

3 June 2005
TWO MEMORABLE NIGHTS IN SPAIN
In front of very enthusiastic audiences Bruce delivered two strong, great performances that will long be remembered. "State Trooper" stays in the set, and we got European debuts for "My Hometown", "For You" and "Highway Patrolman". Highlights from both shows in Spain were the piano versions of "The River" and "Real World", and the hypnotic, sensational closing with Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream".
(Too bad a bunch of rude fans invaded the front rows both nights pushing and acting like animals. In Madrid Bruce aborted the ending for "Matamoro's Banks" due to these incidents. "You're not helping me work, son" said Bruce pointing to a fan who was flashing him in his face after the rush. Pathetic "fans". Good luck in Italy, Bruce)

30 May 2005
FIRST TOUR PREMIERE IN EUROPE
Tonight's show in Brussels got a tour premiere: State Trooper. The two shows in London, though no super rarities or new songs were performed, were an artistic triumph. As an anecdote, Bruce jumped to the first row during "Ramrod", leaving the crowd in ecstasy. Next show: Barcelona.

23 May 2005
EUROPEAN TOUR TO BEGIN TOMORROW
After the final show of the first US leg in Boston (where Bruce told the audience: "We'll be back to do this again...I'll be seeing my fans in New Jersey again, too") the European leg begins tomorrow with a show in Dublin.

20 May 2005
ALL THE WAY... OUT
Back home Bruce debuted "The Wish" at his East Rutherford show, which also included "I'm On Fire", "Ramrod" and "All The Way Home". During the show some morons at section 237 kept yelling and yelling, so Bruce had a few words to say... "Hey, why don' t you just shut the fuck up. Your money's at the door..". The noise didn't stop so Bruce added "Uh, if there's a problem up there, show those guys their money on their way out". Then Bruce says, "Ah, it's great to be in Jersey...."

18 May 2005
BACK AT THE TOWER
Thirty years after his last performances at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia at the end of 1975, Bruce Springsteen returned last night to the old venue and delivered a strong performance with two tour premieres: an acoustic "Ramrod" opening the encores, and the live debut of "The Iceman", the Darkness outtake that was released on the Tracks box-set. After saying "This is something I recorded for the Darkness record, and have never played before... something special for the Tower" Bruce sat down at the piano and left everybody breathless.

16 May 2005
MORE SONGS OFF THE RIVER
As it could be anticipated from the songs rehearsed during soundcheck time in Fairfax, Bruce debuted last night in Cleveland another excellent and forgotten song off The River: Stolen Car, performed at the piano right after "Incident on 57th Street". Later in the set, another impressive duo at the piano: "Wreck on the Highway" followed by "Racing in the Street". The encores continue steady with the new "I'm On Fire", plus "Land of Hope and Dreams", "The Promised Land" and the concert closer, Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream".

15 May 2005
THREE TOUR PREMIERES IN FAIRFAX
And one of them was no less than "Wreck on the Highway", the excellent ballad from The River that hadn't been performed since The River tour in 1980/81 (except for a club performance with John Wesley Harding in 1994). "The Ghost of Tom Joad" and "Dry Lightning" also debuted in a 25-song set that again opened with "My Beautifuy Reward" and closed with "Dream Baby Dream".

12 May 2005
DREAM SHOW IN CHICAGO
After only a couple of weeks on the road Bruce is not only changing the set list every night, but keeps adding new tour premieres and even ending the show with a cover of Suicide's song "Dream Baby Dream", last night in Chicago. The song featured the pump organ (used to open the show with "My Beautiful Reward") and a synthesizer in the back. "I'm on Fire" debuted too, played with an electric banjo. "Paradise", "Incident on 57th Street" and "The Line" were also performed at this amazing show.

11 May 2005
NEW TOUR PREMIERES IN ST. PAUL
A spectacular show in St.Paul, where Bruce premiered "Book of Dreams" and"Paradise" (both at piano) and the first ever live performance of the Tracks song "A Good Man Is Hard To Find", dedicated to a police officer recently killed in the line. The 25-song set also included "The River", "Nebraska" and "Land of Hope and Dreams".

The Star Tribune published a fantastic interview with Bruce which can be read at the Star Tribune's website.

10 May 2005

8 May 2005
DENVER GETS THE PROMISE
Tour debut of "The Promise" last night in Denver, which went straight into the piano version of "My Hometown". "Cautious Man" is back, played back to back with "Reno". Denver gets the longer show of the tour. A 26-song set with 5 encores.

7 May 2005
"DEVILS & DUST" VIDEO CLIP
A video-clip for the song "Devils & Dust" has been shown on various TV stations this week. The video was filmed by Danny Clinch at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park and includes live vocals.

6 May 2005
HOPES & DREAMS IN OAKLAND
A couple of premieres for the 3rd and last night in California: "Nebraska" and "Land of Hope and Dreams", in a set that included "Two Faces", "Empty Sky", "Racing in the Street", "Johnny 99", "All the Way Home" and the great opening with "My Beautiful Reward".

4 May 2005
THE BEAUTIFUL REWARD
Tour premieres keep popping up. Last night in L.A. (show #2 at Pantages Theatre) eight set list changes with five tour premieres. To open the show, "My Beautiful Reward" (accompanied by organ). Later, "The Line" and "Empty Sky" re-appeared, "The River" got the piano treatment and "All The Way Home" debuted live on this tour. Plus... guitar virtuoso Nils Lofgren guested again, this time for "Waiting On A Sunny Day". A great set list with a great, strong performance.
Check out the full set list.

3 May 2005
SHAKIN' UP THE SET LIST IN L.A.
The first of two shows in Los Angeles brought four new tour premieres: piano versions of "Incident on 57th Street" and "If I Should Fall Behind" (both formerly performed during the Rising tour), plus a new version of "Johnny 99" opening the encores. The biggest surprise was the inclusion of "Cautious Man" on the main set. The song (another one off Tunnel of Love) is a rare one, having been played only a couple of times back in 1988 during the TOL tour. Check out the full set list.

1 May 2005
NILS JOINS BRUCE IN GLENDALE,ARIZONA
Nils Lofgren was the second guest onstage on this tour. He joined Bruce last night in Glendale, to play dobro on "This Hard Land". Another premiere was the piano version of the rarely performed "Book of Dreams". Check out the full set list.

29 April 2005

THREE TOUR PREMIERES IN DALLAS
Second show of the tour. Texas. Three surprises. First the obvious "Galveston Bay" off Tom Joad. In the first encore Bruce was joined by texan songwriter Jimmy Lafave for a version of Woody Guthrie's "Oklahoma Hills", and last but not least, the tout debut of "Two Faces", in a beautiful piano version, with Bruce also doing the organ solo with his voice. Check out the full set list.

25 April 2005
TOUR KICKS OFF IN DETROIT
Bruce Springsteen started his "Devils & Dust" tour last night in Detroit with a 24-song set that lasted nearly two hours and a half. Two video screens on the sides of the stage helped everybody see every detail of the show. The set was similar to friday's rehearsal in Asbury Park plus the addition of "Black Cowboys" in the middle of the set and a 4-song encore. Check out the full set list.

23 April 2005

You missed those legendary shows for the Christic Institute back in 1990? Don't worry, that old magic is back. This afternoon in Asbury Park Bruce performed "Real World" sitting at the piano. And not only that but also "Racing in the Street", in a show that debuted the controversial "Reno" plus "Waiting on A Sunny Day" and, yes, ohmygod, not again... "Bobby Jean". Check out the set list.

ASBURY PARK GRANDOPENING
The first of the two public rehearsal shows in Asbury Park included a 23-song set, not so different from the Joad shows, except for the new songs and the addition of the piano, which Bruce used for five songs.
