Hear 'The Wrestler'

Thanks to the trailer from the movie "The Wrestler" we can now hear a good part of one of the songs that will be included in the brand new Bruce Springsteen album "Working on a dream".

The album will be released January 27th and will also be available in a "deluxe" edition which will include a DVD with 30 minutes of 'Tour highlights' (apparently from the Magic tour).

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band won two "Billboard Touring Awards" last night in New York City. Springsteen and his band won for "Top Tour" and "Top Draw" for the Magic tour, and Jon Landau got the "Top Manager" award.

New Springsteen album due out January 27th

Shore Fire media has issued a press release today announcing the release of a new Bruce Springsteen album (no news about touring, though):

Bruce Springsteen's 'Working On A Dream' Set For January 27 Release On Columbia Records

Bruce Springsteen's new album 'Working on a Dream' has been set for January 27 release on Columbia Records. 'Working on a Dream' was recorded with the E Street Band and features twelve new Springsteen compositions plus two bonus tracks. It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O'Brien, who produced and mixed the album.

'Working on a Dream' Song Titles:

1. Outlaw Pete
2. My Lucky Day
3. Working On a Dream
4. Queen of the Supermarket
5. What Love Can Do
6. This Life
7. Good Eye
8. Tomorrow Never Knows
9. Life Itself
10. Kingdom of Days
11. Surprise, Surprise
12. The Last Carnival

Bonus tracks:
The Wrestler
A Night with the Jersey Devil

Bruce Springsteen said, "Towards the end of recording 'Magic,' excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing. When my friend producer Brendan O'Brien heard the new songs, he said, 'Let's keep going.' Over the course of the next year, that's just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year's tour. I hope 'Working on a Dream' has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we've ever done. All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end."

'Working on a Dream' is Bruce Springsteen's twenty-fourth album and was recorded and mixed at Southern Tracks in Atlanta, GA with additional recording in New York City, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.

"Working on a dream" debut on NBC

Believe it or not this is a new Bruce Springsteen song. In the middle of the audience's roar and the player's screams you can hear less than a minute of "Working on a dream", the new song from Bruce's new... well, we don't know if it's part of a new album, a TV program or a special project, because no info at all was given anywhere. Not on TV last night, not on the official website, not thru a press release. A minute of new Springsteen music mixed with football images and some screaming. Art and sports mixed to promote... "something". The new song from an artist who refused millions of dollars to have one of his songs on a TV commercial, and now debuts a little piece of a new song in the midst of a football game. In our opinion, not a good way to show art.

Bruce Springsteen Helps Out His Home State's Food Bank

Bruce Springsteen has lent his image to the Community Foodbank of New Jersey for a newspaper ad. This is the official press release:

Bruce Springsteen:We Can’t Let This ‘Bank’ Fail!
The Boss Stands Up in Major Advertising Campaign to Raise Awareness
of Desperate State of New Jersey’s Largest Food Bank –

Hillside, N.J., Nov. 11, 2008 – Legendary music icon Bruce Springsteen will be lending his voice to the fight against hunger in New Jersey by appearing in a major advertising campaign for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey – the largest food bank in the state. With bare shelves and demand for food among state residents far outpacing supply, the FoodBank is in danger of being unable to meet the needs of New Jersey’s hungry. Consumers are encouraged to visit www.njfoodbank.org or call 908-355-FOOD (3663) to learn how they can help.

Springsteen will headline the ad entitled, “We Can’t Let This Bank Fail,” a call to action for people to contribute in any way they can to help the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. A supporter of the FoodBank for 23 years, this ad marks the first time Springsteen has publicly lent his image to the campaign, due to the urgency of the situation. The Grammy award-winning musician often donates proceeds from his concerts to the organization.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is facing a dire shortage of food, so much so that – without the public’s support – it may, for the first time in its history, begin to ration food. This is a state-wide crisis, with the unstable economy resulting in a 30 percent increase in those needing food. In years past, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey has provided assistance to more than 500,000 New Jerseyans, but expects to see a major uptick in need this year, especially during the winter months when people often struggle between paying heating and food bills.

“With the shelves at our warehouse bare, the situation has felt bleak, until the moment when Bruce Springsteen volunteered to help our cause,” said Kathleen DiChiara, founder of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “We believe that his generous spirit will inspire others to contribute and lend a hand to those in need. He is a symbol of hope.”

The ad will appear in The New York Times. The Star-Ledger, The Bergen Record and the Daily Record on Sunday, Nov. 16th.

About the Community FoodBank of New Jersey

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), a member of Feeding America, fights hunger and poverty by the distribution of food and grocery products, by education and training, by creating new programs to meet the needs of low-income people, and by involving all sectors of society in this battle. Since its incorporation in 1982, the CFBNJ has grown in both the size and scope of its operation. CFBNJ annually assists charities serving approximately 500,000 people in need. With the help of so many caring individuals, corporations, foundations, houses of worship, schools and community groups, CFBNJ has distributed, since its incorporation, more than 300 million pounds of food and groceries valued at more than half-a-billion dollars.

Working On A Dream

The unidentified song that Bruce played yesterday at the Omaba Rally was indeed a new Springsteen-penned tune. Backstreets.com confirms it's a new song that will be part of a new album, possibly to be released in January. Now if dreams came true... wouldn't that be nice?

Working On A Dream

Out here the nights are long
The days are lonely
I think of you and
I’m working on a dream
I’m working on a dream

Now the cards I’ve drawn
Is a rough hand darlin'
I've straightened my back and
I’m working on a dream
I’m working on a dream

I’m working on a dream,
Though sometimes it feels so far away
I’m working on a dream,
And I know it will be mine someday

Rain pouring down
I swing my hammer
My hands are rough from
Working on a dream
I’m working on a dream

I’m working on a dream,
Though trouble can feel like it’s here to stay
I’m working on a dream,
Well our love will chase the trouble away

I’m working on a dream,
Though it can feel so far away
I’m working on a dream,
Our love will make it real someday

The sun rises up,
I climb the ladder
A new day breaks and
I’m working on a dream
I’m working on a dream
I’m working on a dream
I’m working on a dream

I’m working on a dream,
Though it can feel so far away
I’m working on a dream,
Our love will make it real someday
I’m working on a dream,
Oh it can feel so far away
I’m working on a dream,
And our love will make it real someday

Springsteen plays at Obama Rally in Cleveland

Bruce Springsteen warmed up today a crowd of 80,000 people with an acoustic concert on Lakeside Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Change We Need Rally for Democrat candidate Barack Obama. Springsteen has played six songs, including the opening "The Promised Land" plus "Youngstown" and a new unknown song titled "Working on a dream" sung with help from Patti Scialfa. It could be a brand new Springsteen song though there's no confirmation of that at this point.

After the show the whole Springsteen family joined him onstage, while he introduced Barack Obama and his family, who also joined them onstage. Obama has thanked the Springsteen family for their support.
