Santa has left the building

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have closed their 2007 Magic tour with an extraordinary show at London's O2" arena. The band's energy was at top level last night. Despite the few set list changes (who needs them when the show is so excellent?) the performance was extraordinary and London got the longest show of the tour so far, with 2 hours and 30 minutes.

"Because the Night" was again one of the highlights, with the best E Street Band guitar solo since 1978... and it came from the genious of Nils' fingers. "Racing in the Street" got its european debut and the second only tour performance, dedicated to the fans "following us around for two months with that one sign". "Jungleland", another fan favorite, was done for the second night in a row, and they, again, nailed it. Clarence was just perfect. A real joy to watch. Other highlights include the stunning 4-song intro, particularly "Night", and the songs from the new album that just keep getting better and better, like "Gypsy Biker", "Devil's Arcade" or "Last to Die". The show ended with a great rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"... and the history-making E Street Band left the building.

Paris

On a cold december night in Paris, Bruce Springsteen has heated the cold french audience with a very intense, strong performance. "Radio Nowhere" has been followed by both "No Surrender" and "Night", and then "Lonesome Day". An electrifying foursome that set the tone for the night. Later in the set, the highlight of highlights has been a phenomenal "Because the Night", with Nils shining on a brutal and long guitar solo.

"The River" has featured a very nice falsetto at the end of the song (plus a fantastic beginning sung completely by the audience), and "Jungleland" has been the highlight in the encores. Simply perfect. Great vocals, great sax and the E Street Band in full power nailing it. Elliott Murphy, Bruce's long time Paris buddy, was onstage to sing on "Dancing in the Dark", and the show ended with the now classic Xmas song "Santa Claus is coming to town".

Belfast

Another excellent performance in Belfast, with such gems as "Kitty's Back", "The River" or "Because the Night" in the set list, along with all the tour's classics and a 6-song encore, ending with a well received "American Land" and the Xmas song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". Bruce's handwritten set list included some songs that he finally skipped, like "Night" or "Backstreets".

Köln

In the beautiful Kölnarena, Bruce Springsteen has given another one of his "wrecking machine" performances, with a few changes from the previous shows. "The River" and "Because the Night" (with amazing guitar work from Nils Lofgren) stay in the set list, and "The Ties That Bind", "I'll Work for your Love" and the frenzied "Kitty's Back" make a welcome return to E Street.

Plus... once again an extra encore with "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", with his friend Wolfgang Niedecken onstage.

Second show added in Barcelona: The Grand Finale

In what seems to be the European Tour's Grand Finale, a second show has been added in Barcelona, for Sunday July 20th, at Camp Nou's soccer stadium. The 72,000 tickets for the first concert on July 19th soldout in a few hours in the midst of a crazy Brucemania all over Spain, with people sleeping overnight queing for tickets and Bruce all over the media (radio, press, TV...).

Tickets for the final European show (at least for the Spring/Summer tour, a return is expected in the Fall) will be on sale thru TickTackTicket on Tuesday Dec.4th, though the TTT website is usually down and the only real system to secure tickets is queing at ticket outlets.

There's also a second show confirmed for Oslo on July 8th and a second show in Goteborg is expected for July 5th. The show at the RDS in Dublin sold out in minutes and two more shows (also soldout now) were added for May 23rd and May 25th.
