UPDATE According to Backstreets.com Clarence has undergone «two subsequent brain surgeries at a Florida hospital, the good news is that Clarence is currently responsive and in stable condition, though still in a fight for his life. «If anyone can pull off the miracle, it’s him,» says a close friend. «He’s fought back from so much before.»

saxophonist in the E Street Band, 69, suffered a stroke on Saturday in Florida. The severity of the disease is unknown and so far there has been no official word. According to NJ.com, a source close to Clarence Clemons has confirmed the veracity of the news, without giving details about his current status or whether or not he’s been hospitalized.

The news was first published in the celebrity website Showbiz411, which states that members of the E Street Band have been alerted to travel down to Florida «as soon as possible«. Veteran journalist Roger Friedman describes the situation of the musician as «pretty dire».

The health of the legendary saxophonist has faltered in the last decade, although for different reasons, with multiple knee, hip and back surgeries. Here’s wishing Clarence will fully recover from his current situation and will soon return to the stage with Bruce Springsteen.
