Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band show their magic in Asbury Park

Bruce Springsteen and his legendary E Street Band opened his Magic world tour with a special rehearsal show in Asbury Park.

The much anticipated comeback of the E Street Band featured a 2-hour show, with a very intense rockin’ beginning (“Radio Nowhere”, “No Surrender”, “Gypsy Biker”) in a set that included 7 songs off Magic, plus selected vintage classics as “She’s The One”, “Candy’s Room”, “Night”, “The Promised Land”, and… surprise, “Thundercrack” opening the encores. There was no “Badlands”, no “Hungry Heart”, no “Thunder Road”, no epic (or boring, depending on your taste) 15-minute songs like “Tenth Avenue” or “Mary’s Place”.

Two hours of straight rock’n'roll that promise to get better and better each night, possibly with lots of setlist changes. Remember, this was just a rehearsal. More tonight.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band inundan de magia Asbury Park

Bruce Springsteen y su legendaria E Street Band se presentaron anoche ante su público fiel, en New Jersey, en el que fue el primer concierto de la gira. Con el escenario montado en medio de la pista del pabellón, conviertiéndolo en un local más íntimo, Springsteen arrancó el concierto de forma tradicional: con quince minutos de rock arrasador.

El show empezó, como era de prever, con “Radio Nowhere”, seguida inmediatamente por “No Surrender” y “Gypsy Biker”, con encendidos solos de guitarra entre Bruce y Steven y dejando las cosas claras desde el inicio: éste va a ser un gran show de rock’n'roll. Y lo fue. Mezclando los temas nuevos (siete de las doce canciones de Magic) con temas de distintas épocas. Las sorpresas: no es un show eterno e inacabable, sino de exactamente dos horas intensas; los clásicos desaparecen (al menos en la primera noche, no sonaron “Badlands”, ni “Hungry Heart”, ni “Born in the U.S.A.”, ni “Out in the Street”, ni “Dancing in the Dark”) y sólo sobrevive la eterna “Born to run”; no hay larguísimas versiones de algunas canciones (como ocurría en anteriores giras con “Mary’s Place” o “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out”).

De las joyas de su repertorio cayeron “Night”, y “Something in the Night”, y “She’s The One”, “The Promised Land” y también “Thundercrack”, como primer bis. Y como cierre, “American Land”, con la E Street Band haciendo de Seeger Sessions Band en un final algo inusual. Esta noche, segunda ración. Y por si fuera poco, ayer mismo se anunció un tercer concierto “de ensayo” antes de la gira oficial: será este viernes, 28 de septiembre, en el Continental Airlines Arena de East Rutherford, New Jersey, ante veinte mil espectadores. Las entradas se venderán exclusivamente por teléfono 201-507-8900, 212-307-7171, 866-448-7849) hoy martes a las 12 del mediodía (6 de la tarde en España).

“Long Walk Home” video released today

Amazon.com has debuted today the second video off the album Magic: “Long Walk Home”. Most of the video was shot in Asbury Park, inside Convention Hall and the Paramount Theatre, these past weeks. Tonight, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will have their first show of the tour (though labeled as ‘rehearsal show’), debuting the songs from his brand-new, magnificent album Magic.

Estreno del segundo vídeo-clip de ‘Magic’

La web Amazon.com ha estrenado hoy el segundo vídeo-clip que Springsteen ha filmado con una de las canciones de Magic: “Long Walk Home”. Gran parte del vídeo se filmó en Asbury Park, en los pasillos y camerinos del Convention Hall y en el Paramount Theatre, en estas últimas semanas. Hoy, Bruce Springsteen y la E Street Band darán su primer concierto en esta misma ciudad, estrenando las canciones de su nuevo disco.

Los ensayos prosiguen en Asbury Park

Casi a punto para dar el primer concierto en Asbury Park el próximo lunes, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band siguen ensayando estos días en el Convention Hall. Cada mañana, y durante varias horas, Springsteen y su banda ensayan las nuevas canciones, junto a otras de épocas anteriores, y al salir saludan a los grupos de fans que cada día se acercan a las puertas del pabellón para oir los ensayos (lo que consiguen oir, pues en el exterior del local se instalaron unos altavoces de gran tamaño por los que suena la radio a todo volumen, intentando evitar que la gente escuche lo que se prepara en el interior). El pasado martes, Springsteen aprovechó la mañana para hacer una sesión de fotos con la revista Rolling Stone en el boardwalk de Asbury Park, para la portada que la revista dedicará al artista en próximas semanas.

Springsteen to play at NYC Benefit on Nov. 7th

Bruce Springsteen has been confirmed as one of the participants at a benefit called ‘Stand Up for Heroes: A Benefit for the Bob Woodruff Family Fund’. The show will take place at Town Hall in Nueva York City, and Conan O’Brien will emece the show. Along with Springsteen will also perform comedians Lewis Black and Robin Williams. This benefit show is organized by the New York Comedy Festival and the Bob Woodruff Family Fund.

Concierto benéfico confirmado para el 7 de noviembre

Bruce Springsteen ha hecho un hueco en su apretada agenda para formar parte de los artistas que actuarán en el concierto benéfico ‘Stand Up for Heroes: A Benefit for the Bob Woodruff Family Fund’. Esta fundación ayuda a los soldados heridos con daños cerebrales. Se celebrará el 7 de noviembre en el Town Hall de Nueva York, y el famoso presentador Conan O’Brien será el maesto de ceremonias. Junto a Springsteen actuarán también los cómicos Lewis Black y Robin Williams. El acto lo organizan el New York Comedy Festival y la Fundación Bob Woodruff Family.
