Springsteen rocks The Stone Pony
30 abril, 2007Following a now yearly tradition Bruce gave a special benefit concert last night at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, for his kids’ high school, The Ranney School. It was a private event, at $3,000 per couple and for student’s parents only. Bruce and Patti performed with the Bobby Bandiera Band for nearly two hours. The set list was similar to the previous years’ shows (which were benefits for the RDCS school), including “Spirit in the Night”, “Brilliant Disguise”, “Seven Nights to Rock”, “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” or “Twist & Shout”, among many others. Last night there were some not-so-usual songs included, such as “Dancing in the Dark”, “Cover Me” or a cover of The Ad-libs classic hit “The Boy from New York City”, sung by Patti. Southside Johnny guested too, and sang a few songs, including another classic: “The Fever”.

Springsteen enciende el Stone Pony con un concierto benéfico
30 abril, 2007Siguiendo un tradición de los últimos cinco años Bruce dio en el club Stone Pony de Asbury Park, New Jersey un concierto benéfico para el instituto donde estudian sus hijos, The Ranney School. Anoche Bruce y Patti ofrecieron un largo concierto con la banda de Bobby Bandiera. Nuestra corresponsal en el concierto nos informa que Bruce y Patti se mostraron muy alegres, en medio de un ambiente familiar, haciendo de maestros de ceremonias en una noche exclusiva para los padres de los estudiantes de dicho instituto (a 3.000 dólares la entrada por pareja). Patti subió al escenario para la tercera canción y empezó a repartir chupitos, acompañó a la banda el resto de la noche e incluso cantó un par de canciones, incluyendo el clásico de los Ad-Libs “The Boy From New York City”.
El repertorio fue similar al de los conciertos en años anteriores (a beneficio de la escuela RCDS), y sonaron “Spirit in the Night”, “Brilliant Disguise”, “Seven Nights to Rock”, “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” o “Twist & Shout”, entre muchas otras, además de algunas canciones no tan habituales en estos conciertos, como “Dancing in the Dark”, “Cover Me” o la ya mencionada “The boy from New York City”. Southside Johnny fue el invitado especial, y subió a cantar algunas canciones, entre ellas la clásica “The Fever”.

Jesse Malin & Bruce Springsteen
29 abril, 2007Both artists met on Wednesday April 18th for a video-shoot for the song “Broken Radio”, the duet featured on Malin’s latest album ‘Glitter in the Gutter’. The photo features Bruce and Jesse at the studio where the video was shot.
Changing subject, let’s take a look at Bruce’s current whereabouts. Recording engineer Nick DiDia‘s manager recently confirmed Springsteen is recording new songs in Atlanta at Southern Tracks studio where Didia works with producer Brendan O’Brien. Nick is one of the industry’s most prestigious sound engineers, having recorded and mixed albums for Pearl Jam, The Offspring, Rage Against the Machine, Korn and The Wallflowers, among many others. Of course, he’s also previously worked for Springsteen, doing mix and recording work for The Rising and Devils & Dust. This information confirms what has been rumoured for awhile about Springsteen working on a new album in Atlanta.

Jesse Malin y Bruce Springsteen
29 abril, 2007Ambos artistas se reunieron el pasado miércoles 18 de abril para la filmación de un vídeo-clip. La canción “Broken Radio”, incluida en el nuevo disco de Jesse Malin (donde comparte duo vocal con Springsteen), fue la elegida para ser el próximo single extraido del disco. En esta estupenda foto podemos ver a Jesse y Bruce en el estudio donde filmaron el vídeo.
Cambiando de tema, el mánager del ingeniero de sonido Nick DiDia confirmó recientemente que Springsteen está grabando nuevas canciones en el estudio Southern Tracks de Atlanta, donde Nick trabaja bajo las órdenes de Brendan O’Brien. Nick es uno de los ingenieros de más prestigio en la industria discográfica, y ha trabajado en discos de Pearl Jam, Offspring, Rage Against the Machine, Korn y Wallflowers, entre muchos otros. También, por supuesto, en los discos The Rising y Devils & Dust, de Bruce Springsteen. Esta información confirma pues que Springsteen está trabajando en su nuevo disco en el mismo estudio donde ya grabó The Rising. Sólo nos queda esperar que Springsteen quede satisfecho con los resultados y edite nuevo disco este año.
